Well, I can only speak for myself. With the gladiator ascendancy nerfed hard, I think I will be sitting this out. Block defence with same investment (4 ascendancy points) can get you to 85/0 block chance. No Spell damage mitigation. With more investment (+2 skill point on skill tree) a gladiator can get to 60/50, which is still inferior to the 75/75 block chance. And that's with more investment. I would be even ok with this, if the ascendancy got huge damage buffs compensating the loss of defence. Looked hard at the patch notes but could not see any. There might be an off chance that the dev team will tweak the ascendancy nodes numbers till launch but we all know what the chances are for that..

So, here I am sitting in front of my PC and staring at the screen and lamenting my options for 3.16. It's either sitting this patch out or just playing some other ascendancy class that has better defence and better damage than gladiator. Basically any other class.

RIP.

You're not alone. In a supposedly "all buffs" league, they managed to destroy all the best defensive ascendencies, remove some great mechanics we had for years (dodge), destroy fortify (knowing GGG, it will be shit for fast attacking skills like cyclone vs endgame bosses), nerf atlas passives from total 80 to just 40, significantly impairing atlas farming strategies, remove some of the best open maps while keeping Cells and Dungeon. Stubborn as they ever were, they are introducing a new random armour quality and a stupid orb with it, even though it's hugely unpopular with players in advance. That's just off top of my head. Everything they did after 3.13 sucks and I lost all respect for them.

GGG did a great job of hyping everyone up, with the promise of only minor nerfs here or there, and lots of new goodies.

The patch notes tell a different story, so many nerfs, some of them completely baffling.
Have they posted the gem changes yet? I wanna see what gets nerfed or buffed. Maybe I'm just missing it
I'm over all happy with most of he changes though I am very disappointed in the capped minimum resistances. I understand that the new scourge system could allow abuse but the cap is far to low to enable doryani prototype builds to still function. it wasn't uncommon to approach -300% resistance on doryani prototype builds and while i can understand not wanting the use of the scourge mechanic to make them vastly stronger the patch should not have disabled the builds from being able to function. Maybe the cap should be lower like -250% or -300% or doryani's prototype should be able to reduce the minimum by some ammount.
imagine playing Glad for 6-7 season in a row and seeing this shit :(
They must have lost a TON of players in 3.15 to do a 180 and buff so much stuff. That and new world + D2R of course.

Sadly though Gladiator is dead.

Can you guys stop posting "Glad is dead"? It doesn't become more true if you repeat what other said. Lucky attack damage+physical resistance pen is a very good compensation.

Can someone explain the new masteries? How would you unlock multiple masteries? Is it once you unlock mastery then you just put skill points in to unlock more masteries?

Hey so how it works is similar types of clusters share a mastery pool.

For example life clusters will have a pool of life based masteries and each cluster allows you to unlock one of those masteries.

But if you go to another life based cluster you will see the same list but the one you already allocated will be grayed out you could choose to not spend a point on a mastery as some lists may only have like 1-3 that apply to your build optimally.

Tornato is cool, but moves so slow. Which makes me sad. :(
now do exactly this without us having to riot and we're good

Just use it to bolster single target.

Spells that use staves and attacks that use bows can have it as an extra 6link etc.
