Character Names Expired???

I haven't played in a while and when I re-installed I come to find that a couple of my character names have to be changed. I guess that Grinding Gears has given them to another person. This sucks. I have uninstalled the game. This is a horrible policy to have. I am done with this game. Uninstalled it and will never play it again.

It's a policy yes.
It's there so someone can't just keep a name as "hostage" and never log in again.

It's possible that nobody has claimed those names and you could've just tried giving the same name to the characters again but I suppose it's too late now.

Bye.
I understand how frustrating it can be to lose a name that you liked. Unfortunately, character names are freed up automatically by our system if the account has not been logged into for 1 year. We're unable to manually release claimed names before that time, unless the owner gives up permission to do so.

If you would like us to look into changing a character's name, please send us an email at support@grindinggear.com with 2-3 names in order of preference incase the name you desire is taken.

its a great policy to have, so people who quit the game don't hold the good character names.

Imagine if all the good names were locked to the people who played 1.0 and quit forever.

does not need that long. It only need 1 year to expire.

i'm not sure of the message you would see on the char as i've logged on at least every league, but the message could just be there to tell you that they have been put up for reuse if someone wanted them.

So it would say next to it char name expired, it dose not tell you if that name has been reclaimed, so you should just try to re enter it.

Sadly people tend not to have much imagination when it comes to naming, so releasing names was a much demanded "feature"

Im aware, was just going a little extreme on the example of not having names expire.
It is quite generous anyway. Some website delete your account entirely after 1 year or so (due to Euro law?)
