The build is working much better now. Finished the final lab and that made a huge difference along with some other changes. Had to use a flame dash for the lab though. Into red maps now and cruising through nearly all content now. Still plenty of upside as the gems finish leveling and I get full quality on them. Thanks for the reply
!
Awesome, Baroo32!

I'm glad the build feels so much better for you now!

My fault.
So far I've only bought one armor with 6S/5L and Midnight Bargain (because it's cheap). The rest consists of the crap I've found. I'm still missing a lot of skills because I will change the sockets and links for the rest later. I'm in act 8. The zombies are killing everything without any problems so far.

I use 3L skeletons for quality of life reasons. I'm used to casting something forward when I see an enemy. I could swap phantasm for the skeletons. In the notes you wrote that you're so excited about the phantasm. Are they good enough to keep them and swap the skeletons with another skill?
If you continue to cast skeletons after the maximum number has been created, does this still count as “minion death”?

You didn't mention death attunement in the notes. I guess it is not worth? I always take it anyway. Mabe I'll need the 30 dex nodes on this side too.
Hey, DES_Corleone!

Nah, it's not a fault at all! GGG made a TON of changes, not just this league, but the last few. It's too easy to get all mixed up with little details.

I'm glad the build works well for ya. I love Phantasms, and they do more damage than any other support, but if you were to swap Skeletons with Phantasms (and therefore have 2 "5-links" in your chest), you'd do WAY more damage. Doing that would open up the support options as you wouldn't be limited by matching the melee/spell of the zombies/phantasms; the Skeletons and Zombies have the same tags. THEN, you'd even have a legit 5-link Vaal Skeletons too. This build used to be like this a couple of leagues ago. If I can give a tip regarding this setup, stay away from combining Ruthless and Multistrike. Just pick one. Combining them makes the Ruthless "hit" only happen once every 9 multistrike hits (though it is a big hit when it happens).

Zombies are actually quite weak. They are just the playstyle that I like and there really isn't anything else like them in the game. So using 7 extra points for Death Attunement, just for the extra weak zombie isn't worth it in my opinion. (Though, if you're going with Skeletons, it does become more valuable.) So I use it as a fun notable to aim to anoint.

(And thanks for all your other responses!)

Excuse my lack of understanding. But what converts physical to chaos?

Thank you sir.

Unnatural Strength necro passive.

I guess we go for that node first?
Hey, sabotage13!

I actually go for that node last. But it's a preference thing. I always choose offence before defence. So I go with Commander of Darkness (for the resists while levelling), then Bone Barrier, then Unnatural Strength. Again, just my preference.

Sorry if it has been posted already, but would you mind adding to the build or at least posting here some "top-tier"/"endgame" equipment recommendations?
Like ways to scale damage, ways to improve survivability, recommended uniques to look forward to, and stuff like that.

I feel like that's the only thing missing... Yeah, freedom on the build, but feeling lost -when the game changes so much season after season- is a bit tough.

Enjoying the build so far, still only in my 30s.

Is "Sybil's Lament" useful for reflect maps?
Hey, cloudscraper!

I'm glad you were enjoying the build. Hopefully, you still are!

The ring you mentioned is fine. You could swap it in (as long as your resists and stuff are still all right) if you didn't have the currency to re-roll maps. But the ring isn't good enough, in my opinion, to wear all the time.

In terms of your request, I hear you. When I used to write full-fledged guides I had a small section for that for sure, but to me, the guides can become too much of a hand-holding experience if all of the options are laid out before a new user. I get that it removes some of the stress of the unknown, but it also removes some of the experience. That being said, minion upgrades are straightforward but without a decent display that shows the pros and cons of each (GGG's fault).

Now that PoEPlanner has become a bit less reliable the last few leagues, I may switch over to PoB instead. That means I won't be limited (in the notes section) to a character limit when explaining things). So, I'll make it more obvious the next time I can sit down and touch up the build on paper. In the meantime, here's the order of offensive mods to look for:

- DAMAGE mods, in order of offensive power:
- 1) Chance for minions to poison. (We have 40% already. So only bother getting another 60% total.
- 2) 100% Increased Minion Damage.
- 3) +1 to Spell or Minion Gems (but increases minion life).
- For defence:
- find a shield with 20% crit reduction taken
- Lots of life
- Capped resists (chaos included)
- Good armour rolls (then quality that armour to 20%)
- Any incoming damage conversion mods (like Chaos damage applying to Armour)

Does that help at all?

i thought the only things that apply to minions must have minion in their text, did you mean the ghastly eye jewel mods?

So, first of all, I'd like to say thanks for taking the time to write the guide.
I was a bit skeptical about some things when I started, but I'd like to say your skill tree is overall pretty good. There are certain mechanics I don't like to use personally so I replaced them. I am doing T13-14 maps atm and things are going pretty well. Thought I would mention it for those who like to experiment:

1) Moved zombies to a hungry loop setup to save gem slots
using feeding frenzy, meat shield, summon phantasm, minion life
So zombies get both feeding frenzy and meat shield effects (you lose the aggressive / defensive status) but they still "taunt" enemies. Phantasm are summoned and die to heal other minions as intended (great idea btw!)

2) 6L Carrion golem of scavenging as main dps
using Golem, chance to poison, added chaos damage, energy leech, minion damage, culling strike
You can use the hordes version for an extra two golems, but the scavenging version can heal itself through regen and corpse consumption. The spikes skill damage is REALLY nice; I took two extra tree nodes and added a primordial might for increased cooldown recovery. Currently using a clayshaper for extra damage (phys converted to chaos) and an extra golem. You can get "golem commander" anointed to your amulet after you get something decent with +1 all skill level, to get the extra golem and save some skill points.

3) Removed CWDT setup, arctic armor and petrified blood.
So, this is mostly personal; that leech node (10% instant leech) is actually pretty good and seems sufficient so far. Using petrified blood means that your HP won't regen on its own past low health without using a flask, and i am lazy so I just removed it. I also removed arctic armor because I am never stationary as a summoner and placement is always important imo. I replaced both with determination (for now) to get a bit of physical damage reduction. I replaced enduring cry with convocation.

Now, as a summoner, the main issue is staying alive long enough for your minions to kill things. The reasoning behind arctic armor and petrified blood is to mitigate / delay damage enough to avoid 1 hit death. There is another choice however: Ward.
With the rework, equipment can now get really high armor / evasion ratings.

My idea is this:
6L body piece with either high armor or armor/evasion base.
Use Ynda's Stand unique belt to convert half to Ward.
Use Runic gloves / boots / helmet to get more ward, as well as "% faster restoration of ward".
You should be able to get around 3~4k ward and 1s restoration fairly easily.
Get resistances and flat life on each piece; you can get +1 level of all gems / minion gems on amulet, helmet, etc. An a alternative to enduring cry is using the flask "elixir of the unbroken circle"; that way you don't have to stop your movement, it also restores your ward and life if you reuse it before the charges go away.

You can use a 4L for your spectres and an animate guardian (can use minion life / elemental army / meat shield, whatever you like). You can also add an enlighten and eldritch currency to all your equipment to get more minion stats or mana reservation reduction.

I haven't finished upgrading everything, but it's been really enjoyable so far.
Just some options for people who don't like zombie AI :D

That's a great post, Emailbox911!

Thank you! I enjoyed reading through it! I always like seeing how people modify my builds and see what people's preferences are. I LOVE the idea of Zombies in the ring. You explained the build well. It was nice to see what you chose instead of other options and how you filled the holes. Nice work!

Sorry if I am being dense, but where can I see the specific gem links please, for specter, zombie support gems, CWDT?

Thanks in advance
Hey, MildlyClever!

I know this was already answered, but since PoEPlanner has been MIA for about a week, I'll share this: https://pobb.in/csgVueeOVM_6. It's the same PoB as before, but you can just click the link. You don't have to download the program or anything. It's an offline link, so to speak, so if I make any changes, I have to repost the link, but I'll let everyone know if I do that. So this link should have everything you need from what I posted on league-launch.

My mistake, and a big one! Yes. I mean we need another 60% chance for MINIONS to spawn. Good call.

Any recommendations for anoints to get? for damage.
and where should i path on the tree for more damage.
I got most of what i want from the tree so far but no clue where to path next.

im on yellow maps and red maps are going to be slow as minions are dying and some stuff are relay slow to kill.
Some of that ill fix with getting better gear. but im a little behind on that as
i started with a melee build which i hated and are now working on getting this of the ground :D
Hey, flipside!

For anoints something like Death Attunement is an easy one. Serpentine Spellslinger is nice if you find a way for YOU to poison. Whispers of Doom is the most expensive on the tree but for a good reason. But many of the nice minion notables you're already looking for in the cluster jewels. There's not too many options for anointing offence for minions. Revenous Horde isn't bad, but I don't think it's worth the cost.

How are you finding the minion survivability now that you've played a bit since your post?

(And thanks for all of your helpful posts!)

Thank you very much! I am old AND dense :)

Got one general question - how do these do in mines? I only play minion builds when I come back to PoE once a year or so, haven't done much mines, so curious.

Thanks again!
I do Delve every league and they work great. I don't stop to kill anything until I've reached my destination, but once I'm there, I enjoy the experience.
