Unfortunate, but this sort of cross-play/compatibility wasn't going to be easy. It was going to require serious downtime at some point.

And for those wondering, Kingsmarch will likely keep working in the meantime; during prior downtimes it counted. This is because it appears the thing doesn't operate on a true "tick" system (e.g, every second it cycles and does things) but rather checks "has it been long enough that something was done?"

This actually makes sense, as it doesn't require the servers to run anything for players that are logged off; only when they log in does it have to bother doing anything. So this'll be what to expect here: in spite of being down, it'll effectively count as if it'd been running for those four hours, and adjust the moment you log in after the patch.

It's a valid question, and the answer your phrasing implies is actually wrong!

Kingsmarch doesn't work on a "ticking" system where it checks every second to see if it needs to process stuff (a ship coming back, +1 to crops grown, etc.) as that would require a lot of server power to process stuff for players that are offline even while the server is up.

Instead, it works on an event-based system, where, while you are offline, it doesn't update at all. It only checks once you log back in, and it checks how long it's been, and then calculates how much mining, smelting, farming, disenchanting etc was done, and also calculates mapping & shipping.

So going off of this... (and I tested it during prior patch times) the town will in fact record the passage of that time in spite of the servers having been down.
