I indeed HATE the Trials of Sekhemas as much as expected - Will make me quit SSF
" Pretty sure they knew people were gonna hate the sanctum version. But also, as someone who enjoyed sanctum, I was actually dismayed at how dumbed down and easy it was. So, I would encourage people who disliked sanctum to give it a try. But, as is the case with the rest of the game, the boss at the end was very punishing, so, I would say be ready for that. It's incredibly spammy in terms of projectile coverage, maybe melee is a different story, but it was full on bullet hell playing xbow ranger. |

Yeah forcing garbage lvling characters with limited arsenal and trash gear to run sanctum to ascend is indeed just as bad as I imagined, I managed to do it on the second try and Im playing pseudoSSF (normal SC but 0 trade so far) but yeah, its painful, had to overlvl quite a bit and get a better weapon to do it, not to mention that I loathe sanctum.
Now Im in act 3 try looking for the ultimatum trial, let's if its any better, but just knowing I wont lose a run because kekW honor kekW is confort enough. | |
" Would be a valid argument if it would not ingnore the other important part of my Post. Gated Gear behind it -> SSF means you HAVE to do it. And not just once either. Last edited by Teigo#1907 on Dec 7, 2024, 8:12:30 PM

I agree with OP. Sanctum was my LEAST favorite (I shouldn't even use the word "favorite") option in POE 1. I really hated it and absolutely refused to do it (after experiencing it in the Sanctum League). You need a niche build to successfully navigate the challenges without getting hit and that does NOT appeal to me. I did navigate all the challenges in the "trial" and got to the last room with the "boss" but "failed" (not dying) because I ran out of "honor".
I can't express how much I really hate that. IT IS A VISCERAL LOATHING. I recommend GGG make a Path of Sanctum for those few players who really enjoy it. But for me, no thanks. BTW, I am enjoying the rest of the game despite a record number of deaths, so thanks devs for a job well done (except for the Sanctum BS) |

what setting did you change on controller to interact with the crystals?

" I had the interact button used for a skill (felt just better to play for me). But even when you walk away from some mobs it takes a moment to use it as interact button again instead of skill. Was never an issue before so I didnt notice the issue. Until I died to it. |

It's been... interesting.

" Excellent point, GGG should definitely fix this because that sounds atrocious to deal with in the trial. In general I'm not a fan of Sanctum as an ascendency trial since it isn't balanced that well at the moment. Trying to do it as warrior is an absolute slog. |

Giving my two cents as a newer player here who only has a few hours on PoE1. I think the Trials of Sekhemas activity is genuinely just egregiously designed, and it feels incredibly rushed to me, almost like it was either placed in the game at a very late stage pre-EA launch or it was redone at some point before launch.
As a ranged player (Merc) this activity is much more forgiving, but it is still an absolute chore to do, and really gives off a rough-handed impression to newer players like me, especially when you're told this is one of the "endgame activities". It makes me wonder, are all trials like this? Is the atlas like this? Is the entirety of endgame like this? If so, why should I even bother? This activity does not respect my time or energy, so will the rest of endgame? I can't even imagine how this must feel for melee players, I have died only a few times up until this point with a very solid build for my level that has basically no issue melting groups of enemies or bosses and I have no issue maintaining DPS or my health even in the boss fight, but because of the arbitrary honor system, I am punished for.. doing good? Having a good build? I'm punished for not dying and doing good damage? The boss fight especially is egregiously designed, a pretty small room that he quickly covers 50% of with consistent damage spew and when you think "that's a lot" obviously he has to have a phase swap at around 50-60% health where he proceeds to spew even more consistent splash damage across 80% of the arena. I have seen others say that they are having similar problems with the second trial and it makes me question if I will ever even get my ascendancy. well no its not "rushed" ... its repurposed generally HATED mechanic from PoE1
which is absolutelly baffling to me they know that its disliked - only done by hyperspecialized builds and people that do it because the rewards are so high its worth literally having character just to do it they KNOW its nigh impossible for melee yet they put it as first ascendancy trial marked for lvl 20 characters ... whatever stuff they are smoking i think they should kindly reduce the dosage ... |
