Why dedicate my time if I can lose all my XP with a death penalty?

"
Why invest hours into a game to risk losing everything with one mistake? For some, penalties add excitement, but for others, they turn fun into frustration. A simple solution? Add an option to toggle penalties—offering a challenge for those seeking it and freedom for those not. Let every player enjoy the journey their way.

For now, I’ve uninstalled the game. I’ll return if GGG realizes they’re losing players for no good reason.

Its alright, the xp loss I mean, I don't mind. Just die less. You don't even lose your levels. GGG know what they're doing. You only lose XP. And if I say only, then only. Farm at 0xp and get strong enough to not die, then level up. It's really just skill issue. :)

Nah what it is is a game design issue.

Come back and tell us that when you're level 90+ and it takes 3 hours to get that 10% back.

Nope, this game doesn't have softcore. Right now its softcore but with hardcore mechanics forced on the player. This is a fact.

Thanks for confirming you have no clue what hardcore mechanics are. As I said, you really should go look that up before commenting further... but here we are.

Hardcore mechanics delete your progress and waste your time. What does this game do when you die? Oh that's right, it deletes all the exp you earned making all those hours of farming pointless, and it takes away your map and all the rewards, league mechanics and tower mods on it too.

These are hardcore mechanics yes.

It's one thing to make the game progressively harder and make progression more difficult.

It's another entirely to say that the time you took getting that 10% exp was for nothing or the hour or two you spent trying to do the ridiculous Sekhemas ascendancy was wasted... and, not only that, but let's take your token/map away too.

I just don't get why they think anyone over 30 is going to enjoy these mechanics.

Yes, because when you die they also delete all of the items and gold you got during the time you made that 10% xp loss... oh wait, no, they don't go back in time and delete your equipment. What's that, it's just a small 10% penalty and you can't go below your current level? Oh, so not that terrible after all.

I'm not sure how old you are, but in my day (the ones over 30) games actually had challenge and penalties for failure. We enjoyed them, because it actually felt like achieving something when you got better and overcome obstacles. We also didn't have the internet to show us how it's done, we had to figure that shit out ourselves.

I love how you don't just double down, but triple down and further confirm ignorance.

Keep trying, maybe one day you'll figure out what hardcore mechanics actually means.

Well times change. Any kind of death penalty is too much, I hate having my progress lost in a game lol. And it's a good thing we have the internet for guides, if I'm stuck in a game for more than 5 mins ofc I'm gonna google it, way better than just sitting there not knowing what to do.

Also nice misdirect with the gear thing, nobody is talking about losing the loot in their inventory. But lost loot and rewards in a map are still lost loot. It was my loot,my map,my exp and the game took it away. That's bad game design. It's not fun. And the 10% penalty isn't small at all lmao I've lost entire 80% of a level before from dying to a boss or random oneshots in maps again and again. It's way too much and kills all motivation to play the game or do anything. I don't play games to "overcome obstacles" or "figure it out". I play them to win, to have fun in the easiest way possible. That is what is fun to me, that's what ARPGs are about. To get enough gear that your character becomes OP.

Right now this game is a boring chore that just wastes your time, aka not fun.

I know exactly what they mean, they are being forced onto softcore players in this game so it's quite clear.
