Your "skill issue" "git gud" arguments are meaningless. Stop blaming the players for bad game design. The game is bad. This is an objective fact. If GGG doesn't listen to the vast majority of players giving the feedback that will improve the game, then the game will die. This is an objective fact. Games are supposed to be fun, not cbt-simulators that punish you every 2 seconds for existing.
Not my fault you choose to ignore the majority of people complaining about all the problems in the game. This is a feedback forum, that's what it's for. Improving the game. Changes will have to happen for this game to survive.
It's completely unacceptable that any game in 2025 would so blatantly disrespect the player's time investment, and take away the rewards which the player has earned and rightfully deserves. That is just not ok. "The Vision" is what's going to kill this game if its tripled-down on.
Just because, you say something is an "objective fact" doesn't automatically make it true. 300k+ players are ACTIVE right now and less than a 1% of them actually go online to complain.
Its not a disrespect of a players time. Its a way to show the player, that their build or gear is insufficient to complete the objective at hand. 10% is annoying but it makes you really think about how not to do and what needs to be changed.
Perhaps another kind of game is more your speed?

Funny, rarely if ever experience those problems myself... perhaps if you worked on your build and skill a bit more you also wouldn't have major issues with such problems.

But I thought you said the game requires no skill?
I'm really confused now, does the game require no skill therefore you are not dying and losing xp... or does the game require skill and therefore it is bad game design?
You know what I find extremely disrespectful of my time? A product that calls itself a game but in reality is nothing more than a movie I have to click through. I prefer games that have some challenge, and consequences for my failures. That way I actually feel like I'm doing something, and enjoy the feeling of overcoming a problem.
I don't see the majority of people complaining, I see a very small amount of people complaining very loudly. I see a game that as Very Positive reviews on Steam, from 75k players. I see a game that has had a very strong start to early access/open beta and a very good retention rate of players.
This game is not dying, but it might just not be the type of game for you. That's fine, it's in fact completely normal and expected.

Nope, all it does is make people not want to play the game. So it's bad.

Then just let people have an easier mode in the game. It literally wouldn't affect how you play it. You can have fun with your hardcore dark souls mode, while the rest play normal Softcore. That's how it should be.

I am playing softcore. I'm not sure you understand what hardcore is, perhaps you should look that up before commenting further.

Nope, this game doesn't have softcore. Right now its softcore but with hardcore mechanics forced on the player. This is a fact.

Yeah, the reviews are overwhelming positive but people on the forum think they're the majority when in reality they account for less than .5% of the player base.
I love the damn game and all that needs is slight tweaking which takes no time at all for the devs.

PoE 1 is the best. PoE 2 is something. Last edited by HeroEvermore#0498 on Dec 31, 2024, 12:09:17 PM

The main reason there's penalties is so players actually develop skills and feel rewarded for hitting level 95+, especially level 100.
Without penalty, noobies like you would be able to just grind t1 whites for 500 hours to achieve that goal.
there are penalties for dying, its called you can't complete the content and proceed.
XP loss is punitive and serves no purpose.
it doesn't even have a philosophical analog to real life where people only learn from failure.
I think that gatekeepers who want punitive games are people who have no real life accomplishments and so they try to overcompensate by accomplishing things in video games.

Why invest hours into a game to risk losing everything with one mistake? For some, penalties add excitement, but for others, they turn fun into frustration. A simple solution? Add an option to toggle penalties—offering a challenge for those seeking it and freedom for those not. Let every player enjoy the journey their way.
For now, I’ve uninstalled the game. I’ll return if GGG realizes they’re losing players for no good reason.
It's one thing to make the game progressively harder and make progression more difficult.
It's another entirely to say that the time you took getting that 10% exp was for nothing or the hour or two you spent trying to do the ridiculous Sekhemas ascendancy was wasted... and, not only that, but let's take your token/map away too.
I just don't get why they think anyone over 30 is going to enjoy these mechanics.
