Why dedicate my time if I can lose all my XP with a death penalty?

"
And you only say that, cause xp loss is just a theory for you. You never had a build in level 98 to really understand WHAT it feels like to have a single moment deleting all your efforts in a second. Go to level 98 with your build. And return here if you died. THEN we talk about motivational impacts of xp loss.

Oh poor thing, you almost made me cry lol.
The players who get to 100 are the ones who:
- Constantly improve their gameplay
- Keep investing in their gear until it gets super powerful
- Keep investing in their gems to get the max power out of them
- Figure out skill and passive tree combinations to maximize damage output, such that they can "nuke" the screen with a few clicks
- Figure out boss weaknesses such that they can drop a boss in a few seconds

Game is working as intended.

Talk to me with all the respect i give YOU. There are many things you say that show me a lack of experience. But i NEVER, i NEVER treat you disrespectful. If you want to talk to me, you need to keep that standard. My conversation with you ends here.
So I guess people against XP loss because they are obsessed about reaching lvl 100 indeed. Just because it exist and they can't live knowing that someone reached higher level then them or just because of perfectionism. Then they are sad because they can't realistically reach it (well, I think people with real life shouldn't even make such goal. I myself can set up goal to reach lvl 95, don't want to gind forever). And because of their psychological problems they are demanding to remove for other people option to challenge themselves in reaching lvl 100, just because it hurts their feelings.

Nope, you're not constantly improving your gameplay. You won't risk any changes from 99->100. You repeat dull processes until the progress bar reaches 100. You never change your passive skill tree. All that happened before you entered lvl 99. The last level is about taking no risks by repeating the grind till it hurts.

This is a separate topic, but killing bosses in few seconds doesn't have anything with figuring out their weakness. I just one shotting bosses immediately as fight starts, there is nothing to figuring out, just having enough damage. Hope they will make bosses tankier.

Yup, seeing how the ceiling for enemies is around 83, past that point there is no real reason to change the gear if you can clear stuff fast. Just a mindless grind for a month.

Look, you reached a build hitting 95. Thast's pretty awesome. But that nothing compared to 98 or 99. The amount of time investment taken from you for only ONE mistake is OBSCENE.

Thats because not all players are really meant to reach level 100. Back in Diablo 2 majority of players were around lvl 92-96 in the Ladder, the same happens in Path of Exile as well. Back when Atlas first came out best players could level to 100 in less than a week so GGG nerfed the xp rate not once but twice.

Removing XP penalty has no benefits whatsoever, only negatives that teach bad player behaviour. Any game needs to have sufficient penalty for failure or people no longer find the game challenging at all. And games that have no challenge are not games, they're DVD menus.

Honestly it's just yuck.

Especially with all the on death and instakill bullshit they've got flying around, even with max res and HUGE Total health you can get fucked by some bullshit that you can't see or is too quick to even react to.

Can't have both imo or people will just stop playing.
Completely demoralizing and infuriating.

Anyone can get to 100 easily, just activate the omen and set the towers up for max exp + only use exp waystones.
The difficult is capped at T18 so it's realistically just a time grind.

Simple solution to appease everyone:
- Reduce the penalty by 50% so people aren't hurt and butthurt as much.
or
- Remove the penalty but lose the gear picked up.
Should of stashed it if you thought it was that valuable.

I'm hooked on the game and it's still making me not want to play.
11 days played.
Honestly, it's amazing how people are arguing over 10 years about such simple topic. So many people don't understand such obvious thing, which I described above. Gladly GGG are smart enough to understand it and to not pay much attention to those debates.
