XP loss to make level 100 an achievement
'Casual' players will never get to 90, I'd say level 80 is tops for casual play (cca. 'yellow' maps). I'm not sure when the XP penalty kicks in, but its already later than in PoE 1. I'm ok making the XP penalty kick in even later (but it has to be present in some form).
I'm even ok with the 'one portal', with the caveat that Atlas needs to improve in various ways - because the endgame currently is a boring slog through maps you don't want to play, to get to the ones you want. When night falls

" I did know this, actually was the one who started the thread the day of GGG Live against the one portal and bricked map and it got to ‘trend number 1’. Whilst I am by no means taking credit for the roll back to not entirely bricking the failed map the community was and the change you mention came to be, but it’s still too harsh imo. Imo they either need to go back to 6 portals and totally bricked if failed OR one portal and can retry the map with the bonuses not being removed. " There is nothing (apart from lack of motivation due to uninteresting content, as you said ) stopping a casual from hitting 90+ in 3 months. (ALL typos lack of caps, punctuation and general errors are copyright Timbo Industries - Laziness Division)

I am a casual player and my highest char is level 87 at the moment. I would play him to 90 or more, but i have 1 of those unlucky accounts which will never see an divine drop. Cause droped items are no alternative i have to buy at the tradesite, but everything that could improve me, starts at 1 div.
So now i am playing my 2nd char in the 70's. He also didnt saw an div or perfect orb drop so far, seems he will also end in the late 80's when items start to cost divines. |

XP loss doesn't make level 100 an achievement.
What it does do is push players away from any challenging content to grind safe maps with no risk. |

XP loss needs to go as is. It is dumb.
The amount of hours you need to pour into the game to farm 95-100 is insane. Most people won't even do that. |

Its always funny when people equate time with difficulty.

I don't care if it starts at 90. You really don't feel it until then anyway. Who is dying so much that they can't even reach 90? Maybe get some defenses in your build?

" You don't need to grind 95-100. You don't need level 100 for anything. " So don't run dangerous maps. Or do, and avoid dying, or not. You don't need level 100 for anything, any more than you need a super rare item or a perfect rare. In all these cases, you will not get the thing without a lot of work. | |
yep, im lvl 90 ranger, i died so many times due to the fact that i couldnt see the attacks coming, there is no skill around it, u either play bs meta build or die, i dont like to follow meta that reduce my fps to 10, i have poison archer, i easily delte mobs even at lvl 18, but i die often even with over 92% evasion and then i lose so much exp, i honestly dont even feel like playing this game anymore. and to note all my resistences are 75, and chaos res is 58.
