are we the boomers for preferring PoE1 ?
" where are you getting this from? 90%+ of the forums posts i seen are from people who prefer poe1. i have only seen maybe 2-3 people who said they prefer poe2. and steam numbers are 80% bots so dont use that Last edited by Lyutsifer665#1671 on Feb 4, 2025, 5:42:09 AM

" POE1 players are people that like a complicated game that takes a long time to learn with a ton of stuff to try out. Especially once you learn crafting and remember hideout is lava, this game is just a blast. It burns out before the league is over, but there really are some good things they could do to fix this. POE2 players are people who don't understand what adding a horse to a game means for the game. They don't understand a company not respecting their time because they don't play a game enough for it to impact them in any meaningful way. Your typical POE2 player would never have spent enough money over the years on POE1 to get free access to POE2. They either don't spend that much on games or don't play any game consistently. POE2 is build in its bones from the ground up to artificially inflate your playtime by wasting it doing things like running, clicking wells, sorting through a "bases" tab, or spending forever trading. |

" Yeah this is an insane take. The largest POE streamer isn't even playing POE2 XD. Are you serious RN? |

I'm currently taking a break from PoE 2 and are back playing PoE 1 - I do like PoE 2 but it also feels really nice to be able to just happily rampage through a map without having to think twice about every step... Pretty sure I'm going to keep playing both. :)

The original game is PoE1, with the PoE1 spirit...
So we prefer the original game, and not the sequel funded by the player PoE1 and which was not intended for them. For me, Tencent (rip GGG) wanted a cash machine with a "PoE for Casuals", based on the PoE1 hype... Personally, I feel betrayed and scammed. |

Not really I'm 54 and POE2 is just way better as a core than POE1 they just need to get control of the dumb design space ruining easy buttons like Spark and keep fleshing out endgame.
Unless you like space ship shooters and dumpsters of loot raining down on you then yeah POE1 is better. Pandering to players who don't want consequences for their mistakes is a perfect description of what went fundamentally wrong with D3 and 4.
If they wanted mindless mobile game time waster gameplay they sure did make some perplexing choices and marketing statements for 6 fucking years. |

" The largest POE streamers all usually have had enough after 5 to 8 weeks including Quin. The vast vast majority of POE streamers are quite positive on POE2 and most of them only stopped playing it after week 6 to 8. Pretty normal arc for any ARPG. and tons longer than most of them. A solid number of them are now doing other games entirely a few are in Pohx's private league. Ben and Pohx are actually the only really loudly critical ones I casn think of offhand. Sure everyone positive or not (including me) wants more content and have balance criticisms but by in large they have POE2 YT reviews up that are positive. I'd say Ziz and Steel seem pretty mid. But harshly critical? Nah. Mostly just waiting on new shit to do IMO. The main thing is that some people are addicted to the space ship shooter and they react to change the same way any addict does. no
theres no corelation its a preference. tho i would argue that boomers would tend to prefer standard over temp league. i could be wrong tho. i regard myself as a boomer. most of my friends do tend to prefer permanency somewhat. but we do delve into temp leagues IF we think we can make a lot of divs to bring back to std. " I get this same vibe tbh. Change is hard for some people, I think Ben's reasons are mostly just early access/beta issues a few dumb choices and some stuff that's just what he is used to that are different in 2. I agree with Mrllama's takes on POE1 myself. Its just that I can enjoy space ship shooter combat at times and as long as I don't think too much about it everything else in POE1 can be coped with while hoping the Dev's figure out their mistakes and fix them in 2. Which to be fair they've done a lot of in the campaign. Pandering to players who don't want consequences for their mistakes is a perfect description of what went fundamentally wrong with D3 and 4.

" You're just making up a cope story for why some people like 2 more. Not sure why you're implying POe2 enjoyers "don't understand what adding a horse to the game means". I would expect someone who likes POE2's wider skill design space, slower pacing, and less dumpsters of loot to have a BETTER appreciation of game design than someone who prefers 1button zoom, loot pinata "the filter told me to pick it up" mode. The kicker is when you then go on to clearly not understand the design goals of things that add weight and friction to the world that are meant to make the world feel more authentic or immersive by having real world parallels. You see them as time wasters. A game designer sees them as things that psychologically trick your mind into being immersed more. Take a game that removes lots of the things that even POE1 has that can be seen as "artificial inflation". Diablo 4... Why do you play POE1 instead D4? It clearly has less "artificial inflation"? It has mounts "so you don't have to run everywhere". What were you saying about adding a horse?
