GGG PLEASE remove or massively tone down XP loss. Ruining game for me.

The exp loss wouldn't be that bad if I could actually regain it fairly decently. But when the highest level mobs I can farm (reliably) is around 80-84, and I'm around lvl 94+ the exp/hour is just awful. Give us higher tier maps that can to up to lvl 90 at least so it's a bit easier to "catch up". If it wasn't for the omens that reduce exp loss I'd probably shelf my current character a long time ago. Spending almost a week to go from 95-96 isn't the most fun experience. Especially since it kinda holds me back from attempting pinnacle bosses and more rewarding maps because you don't wanna lose days worth of grinding.

Also buff the omens that reduce exp loss and make them 100% instead of 75%, and adjust their droprate accordingly.

You know what "one step forward, two steps back" realy means? It means they know 100% of the player base hates it, they know what we want, they know a better solution to the problem. Theyre not going to fix it unless it becomes profitable to them. THATS what they havent figured out yet, and so were going to have to wait untill TenCent makes them sell XP buffs on the MTX shop. Then theyre going to agree to lower the XP panalty but slowly reduce the normal XP we get until were forced to buy XP from the MTX shop or not level up at all.

I've seen it done in many other games. "We prommice that we wont sell XP buffs on our store" and then 1.0 finally rolls out and along with it comes purchasable XP buffs.


And your angry take definitely trumps the decade-and-a-half of continuous proof that none of this is going to happen.

But hey, good news is - if by some freak chance they decide to go that route, I have a lot more free time on my hands, and you get to spend your life thinking you're the ARPG messiah.

Personally the xp loss doesnt faze me. Thats just grinding. Losing level would be more dedtrimental.

Losing the map stone is annoying, because currently I barely keep up with current tiers. So I need to grind a few lower maps to get back current levels.

But getting locked out from the special events are just infuriating.
Looking at those fancy rares with corpse explode, chaotic vine, volatile crag.
Or our favorite: river hag rare with river hag pack + regen + minion riveve mods :D

Either give a currency to "reactivate" the special events of the map, or if you die your map tier should be reduced, but keep the events. (you still have 6 portals)

I know GGG stated you should "earn" your maps, but you cant learn your limits if anything new oneshots you.
And for a long time I thought my build is horrible, but found out that a few rare mods are the destroyers.

And the current "meta solution" is to have million dps, aoe oneshot OTP builds, because you don't need to worry or even learn enemy patterns if they die before they can even react to your presence...
Hard disagree here, no XP penalty is pretty bad and boring progression.
Disagree with OP, xp penalty is good and needed for the health of the ladder.

When you don't have some perfect build, with uber gear, you will die more and most of the deaths are almost impossible to stop.

Yep, people with perfect min/max builds, great gear will hardly ever die but for casuals, our characters will die, enough so that trying to level 90+ isn't fun. It's a masterclass in frustration.

And I don't understand the reasoning behind the XP loss.
We already have a downside to deaths in endgame, we don't need the XP loss.

In the end of the day, having a game mechanic that changes the game from the fun experience, into a frustrating experience isn't good. Hence my feedback (not complaint).


There's at least 1000 91+ level characters on HCSSF. What's your excuse?
I don't get this. If you have problems with xp loss, use a Omen of Amelioration. Where is the problem ?

I agree to diminish or lose completely the xp loss, this should be fun to play. Most people play after work, to get relaxed not get frustrated more after a hard day.

Did my own build with nothing from trade, and died 450 times in total on my monk. More than half on end game where I lost xp. Some of my friends quit the game because of this.

I don't have much experience with POE 1 and it was hard to keep a balance.

It's enough we lose the waystone, waystone modifiers, exated paid for the waystone (when you die to much the waystone you have are not enough and you need to buy from trade) etc..

Make this game fun to play!

It's not a stupid question. Level 100 gives you a small amount of power boost compared to 90.

And other death penalties are way worse. Losing map extra content, modifiers and any loot on the ground are actually worse than XP penalty. And yet people cry about XP the most. So irrational.


lol. to get 10% xp at lvl 92 you need to make 3-4-5 maps

to get back modifiers I just place 2 tablets and get them back.

so yeah losing xp is worst punishing of all
