Loot progression is terrible
I’m not saying drop gear like a piñata as D4 does but seriously doing t15 maps/ waypoint and getting bows with 16-24 physical damage is just terrible. I would like loot to be a part to interact with and be a good experience and not be forced to the trade site just to get meaningful gear. I’ve tried the trade site a few times but Everytime no one responds anyway. I want to earn my gear by playing the game and be wow’d by what I find. I can farm and get currency, anyone can do that but I want to find the gear. If you insist upon having trading at least put that auction house type thing in that was in Poe 1 so we don’t get endless no responses from the trade website.

" It's been very rewarding for me. I got a decent ingenuity belt first time killing KOTM. I got some HOWAs that I corrupted and ended up being great. I corrupted my own pillar that I found for the 12%. I got a melting maelstrom from simulacrum. I got a 4dex/3int against the dark diamond first time killing Trails boss with the right relic. I got a decent morior drop from Arbiter. I don't know - loot progression seems great for me. Yes, there is a ton of garbage that drops. Trade site issues I have not experienced so I can't relate. |

Lol you can't post about an ing belt and a pillar in the same sentence bro, pillar drops off the worm in act 1 first area, lmao.
Dudes talking about maps in general - even juiced as maps drop primarily currency the "gear" the game drops over all, well you get a good base from time to time but for casual players I can see the problem 100% |

Okay, so you're saying the loot progression is fine from Act 1? Confused. Anyway, if OP is looking at every single blue and yellow item that drops.. then yeah, I see the problem also.

I think loot sucks full stop haha like you're running round level 96 smashing a T17 or 18 and you're getting level 1 uniques more than anything else its weirdddd.
When you're levelling your character you hardly see a unique on the campaign, I mean on occassion with an alt but think about the first char you made in poe2 or poe1 - start of a new league I get jipped everytime then soon as I make an alt uniques galore. Sometimes you'll get a nice yellow but generally for me over the last 10 years its for a diff class so you end up needing to buy something if you've had currency dropped. Maybe a class specific item on specific bosses as you go through campaign could be cool but anyways I dont wanna hijack a thread I talk to much on here as it is lol. But yeah weapon/armor drops could be better, thats all. |

The problem is the distributions, they need to add more incremental tiers at the mid-high end so we're not relying on some ultra-rare drop to occur once every 1/4000 but instead might slide by with something that has a 1/1000 drop chance.
The nastiest thing isn't necessarily the single rolls, anyways, it's that you need several good rolls in success of one another, so if you need a T0 flat phys and a T0 %inc phys you end up with a probability of 1/16000 (estimated) which is... Well it's improbable, and that's why there's so much reliance on the market, since the manhours are distributed. But with all the illegitimate stuff and the lack of crafting options we're saddled with a market that's demanding you be in the top 10% of currency-wealth to participate meaningfully. And I presume most of those people are exploiting either legitimately (leech-farm) or illegitimately (RMT, botting). Last edited by DysjectaMembra#5974 on Feb 14, 2025, 10:34:59 AM

The Unique item situation is bad right now, IMO. 99% of Uniques in the game are literally useless end game, but they are fine for low level characters in campaign. Trouble is...... They don't drop. I dropped maybe 3 uniques across both normal and cruel difficulty.
In endgame, you're swimming in uniques that are basically chance shards. The only ones that are sought after are Pinnacle drops. Make more Uniques useful. Their unique effects are interesting, but the rest of the stat rolls are garbage. Make them like D3 uniques where they can have 3-4 lines of regular prefix/suffix mods. That will make them more usable, have applications to more builds, and be varied in their drops aside from a just straight brick item. |

Another thread that got taken over by trolls in the very first reply.

I haven't even made it to endgame yet. I haven't been in a rush, since i know we won't be getting any real new content for a long time.
So instead i've just been trying out classes. I got four characters to act 2 (ascended) and only one of them felt good. My latest one. Because i finally had enough gold to actually use the vendors and actually get some useful gear. It feels really odd that the vendors in the campaign are designed to help mitigate gear problems for leveling characters, but you literally cannot afford to use them (especially in the first 2 acts) on a first character. Its basically guaranteeing that your first playthrough is always going to feel bad every league. I don't even care about endgame loot at this point: The campaign is not supposed to be a struggle/grind for gear. I shouldn't need to grind campaign areas several times just to "maybe" get my character viable enough to continue the campaign. The fact that my latest character only feels good because i could BUY good gear with gold is also telling. That is proof that not enough gear is dropping. I probably could stick with using Blue/Magic gear for longer, but since you took out the ability to re-roll magic modifiers, its not even viable to make a good magic piece anymore and i'm still relying on crazy RNG luck to get a good one. |
