If this new PoE 1 event doesn't capture a lot of players

then you really really should focus on PoE 2 only from now on. These poe1 players in a hard copium thinking they are the main playerbase and poe2 wouldn't be as popular as it is, if they are not playing it. They have no idea what's going on. We will see in 2 days, how many of these die-hard poe1 players will be playing it and how long it will last before drops to low amount of people.

This event is considered new league in my eyes and you can't deny it. There are big and new changes to try, same as a new league mechanic.

If the numbers are not high, Developers need to focus on PoE 2 full time and ignore PoE 1 for a very long time. We are all here waiting for PoE 2 updates but they are delaying it because of PoE 1. Is it worth it? Let's see.

In other threads GGG pulled everyone from PoE1 to PoE2 and that's the reason PoE1 is getting an event league and not a normal one. In this thread GGG pulled everyone from PoE2 and put them on PoE1 to simply make a small event league. It really can't be both.

I honestly would want them to keep both games if POE1 is financially stable. If POE2 lures in a new audience this could also benefit POE1.

For one to keep variety - but for another very important reason - if they keep POE1 there will be way less backlash if they try out more new ideas in POE2 - i would love to see more of the campaign gameplay in endgame (not just screen clearing one shot builds).

I know, you probably think of the difference between PoE1 and PoE2 Steam numbers, but they are not what you think.

Most ppl don't use the Steam Client at all, but we use the data from Steam because they are the only precise numbers we can get.

Why are the Steam numbers so much higher for PoE2 compared to PoE1?
Because of new players who are way more likely not to use the stand-alone version and some ppl from China who cannot use their separate Chinese Client atm because there is none right now.

Only for your understanding, in the "Ultimatum" league the Steam number peak was at 154k players, but on the "Frankfurt Realm" alone we had a 180k queue.
So even a single realm is able to "fit" all players on Steam.

And while I, myself, don't have the doomer mentality like some others who went ballistic about the PoE1 pause - completely ignoring them because the "nUmBeRs ArE lOwEr" is unsportsmanlike. It would be the same if they say "ignore new PoE2 players because they have no clue what they are talking about".
That does not help anyone.

PoE still is the best ARPG on the market by a huge margin. The PoE2 EA actually showed that perfectly. PoE2 is fine, but it needs alot more time to catch up to PoEs levels of content.

I don't know how many people will play the event, but I assume a whole lot of people are excited for 3.26 right now. Especially considering that we'll only get one content update for PoE2 in between, which will probably be played out in 1-2 weeks.

When I think about it, as much as I enjoyed PoE2 so far, I'd rather play PoE at the endgame than PoE2.

The new event will probably be huge. POE 2 is far too undercooked atm to be worth putting too much time into. Better to enjoy something new and fun in the version with years of development full of things to do and hopefully have more unfinished content added and/or the economy reset in POE 2 when I come back.

Remember that POE 1 is also a testing ground for POE 2 content still, so you should hope lots of people participate in the event since the success of POE 1 has and will continue to translate into future success of POE 2.

Poe fanboys spreading fake news and want prove of reality? Look up steam charts alone, add console players, voila.

Poe 1 is a bloated mess and is going into maintenance / milk the cow mode, why the h else would poe 2 even exist?

PoE1 is dead, just taking a bit for the body to cool.
After PoE2 few will enjoy the non WASD and the dated environments.

PoE2 fans will be bitter that the baby is being neglected so grandpa can get some cpr.

putting any attention in PoE1 that looks like it should be directed at PoE2
