Is there like-- any way to skip the early game in PoE?

"
I don't find the game fun when you can't -do- anything, and I've already gone through the entire story several times at this point, that it's not engaging. There's nothing new to learn, it's all the same lore, the same enemies, the same linear path over and over again, using the same dull boring abilities that you have no interest in actually using.

Same old argument, i don't like the repetition so let me skip to content that is even more repeatable and boring.

How could it be boring when there are over a hundred different skills, utilized in different ways by 7 different classes?

Oh yeah, because if you got access to those then you might be OP in act 1 and oh god think of the children

Also the campaign needs to be more challenging every season to punish new players who picked up the game without reading reddit for 3 days and subscribing to four different streamers. Like really, you just picked up the skill the game gave you, enjoyed using it, and thought you could keep it for more than an hour?

But to answer your question, you figure out what skills to use to get you to act 4, put the game down long enough for the price of uniques to tank, then come back and buy those for the handful of currency you found.

I get some people enjoy starting over from scratch. I understand that.

I really don't.

The new Ascendance options look interesting, I had something in mind I wanted to try, but getting through the start of the game is such a damn slog I just am completely losing interest in it completely.

Spending hours and hours just to be able to start trying out the stuff I am actually interested in playing.

Again, I get that some people like that fresh start feeling, but I just personally don't get it, but if you want to actually try new stuff you are forced into this fresh start monotony.

So, is there any way to just skip all this nonsense? It's not challenging, it's not rewarding, it's just simply a slog you're forced to endure before you're allowed to actually do things and have fun.

This game is literally about repetition. Don't get me wrong, I hate the process, but I still ended up maxing my roster. Really, if you want to avoid starting over, all you can really do is play in standard - but you'd still have to level every character you'd want to play either in standard or in a league.
Yep, totally over league play.
"I'd like a way to skip playing the game." D4 mindset. You want auto fighting too?

The only winning move is not to play. Seasonal/league gameplay design is horrible for ARPGs and all of them have adopted it. They could have just as well dumped all of these new ascendancies into the existing Settlers leagues.

Riiight. Seasonal/league gameplay design is the only reason why Path of Exile is still a relevant game so many years after release.

ARPGs invented seasons they didn't adopt it, I have been playing ARPGs with seasons since around 1999

yeah i find it weird that many newer folk act as tho standard never existed and standard was not the primary way how people played diablo likes until poe invented leagues.

i've suggested before that an easy fix for players who just want to enjoy temp league content is if ggg reworks the concept of "leagues". temp leagues work the way they normally do, but players in standard should also get access to temp league content.

you skip the campaign and skip the grind and just enjoy the temp content. heck i would be able to skip trading for the most part too since i have a lot of wealth on standard.

it can even entice standard players to return.

how about once you complete the atlas 115/115 then you unlock endless mines and you can level your character there and get your ascendancy like you do in endless mines? That would be fucking awesome imo
look, poe has ever been a game where clever folks find out holes in ggg's skill and gear design to create overpowered builds.

since build sharing got automated it allowed for that information spread into the whole community in seconds by one guy posting a pob link in discord.

you really think ggg is interested in all active accounts being able to play that build 5 minutes later in endgame?

---

say a nice fank you to all those folks who automatised every offline aspect of the game. yes they probably did it for the community and not for fame and money but it still has consequences ingame.
age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!
Yeah, okay.

Because I don't want to slog through Acts 1-5, with all the mindless slow paced quests, lack of access to the abilities you actually care to use, lack of mobility options, ect... that offer nothing remotely new, I apparently now just want to just be given everything and the game play itself.

Like-- how do you even manage a leap of logic to that insane degree?

As I stated before, my biggest issue is you are forced to play league if you want to do anything remotely new.

I would completely ignore leagues and just play standard leagues if you could actually interact with new mechanics, but guess what? You can't.

If I want to try the new ascendance, I have to slog through the worst part of the game all over again, without anything to make it faster, there is no work around and that is just simply frustrating, and NOT fun.

But if I play in the standard league, guess what isn't available to mess around with? Anything in the leagues.

It is possible to find acts 1 through 5 to be absolutely miserable to slog through and wish to not play through them again, and not want the game to simply play itself throughout the entire way.

Can't even play Path of Exile 2 right now, because instead of being free to play it's $30.00 to play for "Early access" or whatever nonsense that is. I'm not spending $30 to play a free to play game.
