I don`t understand WHY ARE PEOPLE COMPLAINING about difficulty so much...

60 hours in and the game is still fun with good balance. A. Couple hundred hours and late endgame with slow leveling, XP penalty, and cheap one shots and you'll be singing a different tune

I think problem is with the loot system. Too random. I mentioned this on my feedback already, but basically, there are too many loot possibilities for multiple classes, so getting a useful item, is way too hard. Crafting system, is not there, disenchanting system is useless. You can basically reduce most of the times drops of a boss, to 1 regal shard GUARANTEED, after patch.

On the other hand, it`s nice to see loot from different classes, should you want to have some alts.

Agree..

"I don't think it's difficult, so why does anyone else?" is gamer solipsism

And this is ignorance, or stupidity.

I said I like the difficulty, not that it`s not difficult.

I have 60+ hours so far and I like the difficulty.

Here is the problem...

How far you got?
The difficulty curve just escalates to a different game after t10 maps.

Once you hit hard cap of resistances (all 4 res is 75% and your main defensive PASSIVE skill is cap too) all you can build is more damage, but the devs decided the enemies can be only challenging if they oneshot you.

Your first tangible goal of the endgame is to reach all cap. You do that and you get oneshotted.
So you build more hitpoints, but after a certain point the enemy damage outscales your hitpoints until you find a build that brakes the game escalation system:
ie: Smith of Kitavas Max fire res also counts as lightning and cold, they can squeeze out insnae value of those max fire res stats and they reach such defenses they walk through the map.
Or that energy shield build that literally makes you immortal.

personally I dont think much skill is involved building passive stats. If trading is on, you just trade BIS slots (if you play for a living you busy stuff before hyperinflation escalates)
In SSF its grinding...
(they say the only difference between farming and grinding is one lacks of fun, sorry I know its a low hanging fruit but its not directed the company name... ^^' )

Your individual power is the same. Generally you pick 2 stats that scales your damage, but that two stats eventually turn to that single gem that will you just tape your left mouse button or controllers attack button.
Anything else that isnt an attack is wasted time.
In fact combat is so absurdly fast endgame (since anything oneshots you) that dots and combo attacks are a luxury.

I mean, I just testing a few builds, and we have a support gem that scales damage if you STAND STILL?! Now wonder the game have "player committed suicide" death message. :D
The other one gives dot for 5 seconds... Five? If I dont kill anyone in 2 Im dead XD Or does kiting builds exist endgame?

Already made a few suggestions that uses the games mechanics. Its just tweaking the numbers I assume. But we will see what will happen.
I want to play poe2 more, but if they consider meaningful combat to "tap the screen clean before youre tap'd out" I guess I still squeezed good value out of the game, just will be disappointed that it could have been so much better...

But yeah... endgame is the difficult issue.
Cruel and early maps are good. You have class identity.

Then you get the absolute frustrations of visual cancer (million effects at once and especially hard to see those runic nuclear carpet bombs)
and you will be oneshotted by something that you suppose to counter.

I mean I am a warrior. Max defense, full armour and its clear as sky that the enemy just oneshoitted my with a physical attack.
If its not me who supposed to tank that who else?!
Its not difficult. I have 1 button screenclear, its all the invisible dumb shit that instakills 10 seconds after the whole map is silent thats the problem
Now that i think about it, almost all non boss enemies were Ctrl + C / Ctrl + V from PoE1 since PoE2 was meant to be the 4.0 expansion. Only the bosses were made from scratch. That is also why almost all enemies feel completely out of balance compared to Character speed and power in PoE2.
I don't believe this whole "people are constantly complaining about difficulty" narrative. To me it feels like an attempt at self-aggrandizement, willfully and in bad-faith attributing any valid criticism as an attack on the perceived "difficulty" of the game.

It sometimes comes across to me as if people misinterpret having to slog through questionable design choices with having fun. It does feel good when the pain stops, but that doesn't make the pain enjoyable... it's simply more satisfying to avoid frustrating experiences altogether.
Theres a difference between difficult and unfair game.

Cruel and early maps are good.
But the endgame changes into a bullethell, ragegame.

I am a warrior with a massive shield, full armour and block.
And when I get oneshotted by physical attack you just got infuriated.
I am the class that suppose to handle this type of battle.

Just cleared a corrupted nexus and I had 150% stun mod.
Thought to myself, not an issue because I have stun threshold, resist against heavy stun, shield raise cant let you to be light stunned, etc...
Oh boi... I though I was lagging because seems enemies can light stun instant casts (you get light stunned while animation)
And raising shield instantly filled my stun bar up and got 3 SECOND heavy stun?
Everything instant kills you at that point, so 3 second is as good as death screen with delay.

I had my fun with Binding of Isaacs. 4k hours in it. Yet I was never been able to do those famous "baseline streamer content" aka the Eden - win streak streams. And the Lost is just not for me. (nop hit run)

I wanted to love Dead Cells too.
It was such a great rougelight platformer with insanely smooth and reactive combat.
But same issue as powerescalation. You could pick life and defense through all the run, in the end enemies will just turn any supertank into a mush by a single hit the more you progress. I never managed to pass beyond 2 cell runs and the "true game" is 5 cell. No idea if they balance patched it since...
The game isn't difficult, it's just unpleasant. It's like playing tennis with stones in your shoes and when you add the mechanics of gambling, you have a mix that just doesn't make you want to play. But it's not difficult in itself. When I play I really feel like I'm being taken for an idiot. The unpleasant stacking of mechanics gives unpleasant gameplay. Who likes to take microstuns ? who likes super aggressive and ultra fast mobs with perfect aim ?.
The permanent attack/movement mechanic with the character slowing down is the nail in the coffin and as it's not enough we have a gambling mechanic present throughout the game.
It's not a problem of difficulty, it's a problem of respect for the players.
