Too much grind and randomization - Cause of loss of target audience.

I don't mind a bit of grind. I really don't even mind a lot of grind. However, playing games with my friends will always take priority.... if it takes too long to grind out I just wont and we will play a different game no matter how fun path of exile 2 is in its end game.

Same. I love PoE2, I just don't play with friends anymore. I solo my single character each league until I hit a wall, and play other games with friends that require much less investment.
While point well made, every league changes the campaign quite a lot, by adding the league mechanics among other changes to it. Your friends are just being lazy for having no time. Power and respect from the monsters in Wraeclast should be earned. I'm sorry that's just my HC SSF mentality speaking... ROFL
HC SSF. What else? Ruthless when?

My friends only join leagues after I grind out 400-1000 hours and get stuff. I speed run them through the campaign and then we play together.

I'm not complaining about getting them through I don't care about that.

What I'm making this post for is your company. If it wasn't for me actually getting them through the game you would have 5 less customers spending money.

They hate the campaign. It's fun the first time but after that most of us dont want to see it again.

They hate the hundred hour grind just to get a build online.

These are guys with jobs, wives, kids, lives. I just happen to have more time because I don't have kids and my job has better scheduling.

If out of 6 people I'm the only person who is willing to play your game to the level you have designed it you're missing out on a large number of target audience.

Ironically over time they are more likely to spend money than I am. I did my one big supporter pack and will never spend another dime unless I feel the game is worth that much.

Essentially when I burn out you lose 6 customers.

Do with that information what you will.

How about this: Have you thought about this game not being for you guys then? Not all games are for everyone. Seems like this one isn't for you.

and how about this: how are you the one to decide what games people can/should play and which ones they shouldn't?

This world is not a unicorn place. It's not all happy tree friends. Or maybe it is. It's a dualistic world. And there is criticism for everything.
I feel like some people/stuff need/s to be critized. Not in a way to try and harm, but to give them/it an opportunity of growth.
POE 2 got serious performance issues. And so far the devs don't do anything about it or can't do anything about it. Either way it is very bad!

Simple answer: Am I the one complaining about this game? Who are you to decide what this game has to be? Is this your game?

I really enjoyed playing through the campaign, the first time. Actually - also the second time as I understood the story a bit better... though, no, I am not clicking through the dialogue lines for all the NPCs to eke the minutiae. I don't care about the characters: they have no personality.

But gods: that campaign. It serves no purpose?! Most games use the 'campaign' storyline to walk you through the mechanics. They encourage you to go looking in the corners for easter eggs or the occasional unique loot item that lets you play above your level for a short while.

But POE2 has none of these benefits. I don't understand why. It's just a time gate-keep. You look at many of the 'top' builds, and they have one build to race through campaign, then a second one you flip to for the end-game! Nothing of note drops in the campaign unless you're lucky and get a divine. Again, otherwise it's just a time sink.

I reckon completing the campaign first time just gives you a free pass to Act6 cruel. You get a stack of yellow gear at level 50, or whatever, and you can then use whatever currency you got from your first avatar to buy what you want to finish it off. Both ascendancies 1+2 are pre-done. You can go straight to the sections with attribute/stat boons and claim them.

Not really. We all play other grindy games. Hell we play Escape from Tarkov, Runescape, FF14, and a slew of other games that are just as grindy.

However, one thing those games all have that this game doesn't is a purpose behind the grind and a reasonable time to "acomplishment".

Tarkov = multiplayer supremacy and the adrenaline high

Runescape = nostalgic OG MMO (i quit this one because it's grind is pointless imo this is a game that's not for me)

FFXIV = great story and awesome raids.

I would say PoE 2 is absolutely a game for us given the right feedback and time to be developed. However, in it's current state this game will die due to Burnout. Have you considered that maybe this game isn't for you? Because at its current rate this game isn't for anyone.

Telling people a game isn't for them is how your community dies and is quite honestly the stupidest thing you can do for an already niche genre and game that already had a breakout moment gained a huge audience and lost a lot of those players with negative feedback on steam. PoE2 will likely never recover to review score above 90% where it was. Which will also turn away new audience.

Id suggest you dont try to turn people away from the game you "love" Especially when its a game still in development that needs a funding source.

This is all that needs to be said. Answering on assumptions and ignorance. Never have I said I love this game. This game already has funding.

For real. I just want to have fun with my friends.... not all of us are 16 with no lives or commitments anymore.... we rarely get enough time where all 6 of us are able to play games anyway why make us spend so much time just to be able to play.

Then go play another game? Wild thought, innit? Another one. You're not the target audience. 🤯

Seriously though, the world doesn't revolve around you and your friends, bud. Asking to change the entire game to suit your time schedule is as entitled and egotistical as it gets. Go live your life and your commitments maybe? Just saying.
