Let’s have a respectful discussion about the experience penalty upon death.
It is very clear that AI is being used in the construction/composition of these threads and at this point this is a duplication of the other XP penalty threads.

" Thank you so much for your thoughtful response. I completely agree with everything you said, and I truly appreciate the care you put into sharing your views. Honestly, mentioning level 100 was just meant to illustrate a point—it wasn’t a suggestion to make reaching level 100 easier. Whether someone hits 100 or not is really a matter of choice. Most builds are already complete by the mid-90s. GGG has put in a lot of effort. I think the patch that removed XP loss for boss fights was an excellent update. Maybe the strong reactions to my post were because it came right after such a positive patch. lol I can imagine some people thinking, “They just gave us this—now you want more? Are you serious?” In a way, this was really about a feeling of loss. Sometimes when a series of unfortunate events lead to death, I get that sense of helplessness—wondering when I’ll be able to recover. Like I’ve said repeatedly, I’m not in favor of removing XP penalties entirely. I just think a slight reduction could be nice. Maybe it’s just my personal reaction, but I wrote the post because I saw others talking about XP penalties too, and felt it was worth having a discussion. I’m genuinely glad I got to hear such thoughtful perspectives. I appreciate being able to talk like this—it’s always enjoyable to share different views. Even if my suggestion isn’t accepted, that’s perfectly okay. GGG makes the final decisions, and I respect that.
" I already mentioned in a previous message that I’m using AI for translation because I’m Korean. Do I seem like a bot created just to stir up trouble? My previous post was a reaction to the contempt and ridicule I received—I responded with equally aggressive words. But such conflict is meaningless when it comes to sharing thoughts. I didn’t want people genuinely interested in discussion to be exposed to that kind of hostility. The earlier post was simply about presenting an opinion, yet it only received attacks. This post, on the other hand, was written to hear what others think—not to express my own views. Someone already pointed out that the topic had been posted before, and because of that, I ended up responding harshly in this thread too… I regret that. If you don't like it, just move on. Please. Stop trying to drag me into another fight. As you saw in the previous post, if you come looking for a fight, I won’t back down—I’ll return it. Can’t you see the other comments here? People are sharing their thoughts while respecting one another. Don't ruin this atmosphere. Please. I’m asking you—just as one human being to another. " "Everyone who doesnt agree with me must be an AI" Or, maybe, and here is a thought, people disagree with the XP-Penalty because it is a frustrating and outdated mechanic that shouldn't exist, adds nothing to the game and will only turn people away from the game. In all the posts talking about the XP-Penalty i have not seen a single convincing argument as to why it should stay and what it adds or improves about the game. While the downsides are very clear and obvious. A frustrating mechanic is not the same as a challenging one. Sanctum without getting hit for original sin is a challenge. Running weak maps because you loose 10% of xp on random oneshots is frustration, and frustration will only make people STOP playing the game. To the people who say "well without the penalty everyone would just make glass-cannon builds", that is already practically the case, people just go full glass cannon at 95 instead of at 100 because they arbitrarily decide that the levelling is finished and grinding weak stuff for 50+ hours is not worth the 5 levels. To those who say "well it has always been there", that is a fallacy and therefore meaningless. |

" I agree with your perspective, and I also acknowledge that the current system is outdated. However, completely removing the experience penalty might lead to a lack of tension in gameplay, potentially making the game feel dull—like in Diablo 3, where players sometimes fall asleep while playing. That’s why I proposed a compromise: not a full removal, but an adjustment of the XP penalty. Instead of deleting it entirely, how about finding a balanced middle ground? Wouldn’t it be possible for us to reach a consensus that respects both sides?
" My idea would be to not make the player loose xp but rather make them unable to gain xp in a map they have died in, i.e. not taking away levelling progress but rather impeding further levelling progress in a map once you die. |

" Wow! That’s an incredibly impressive idea. Such a fresh and unexpected approach! This is exactly why I enjoy sharing thoughts with others—it’s exciting to encounter perspectives I hadn’t even considered.
" for somebody with such little time to play the game ( your words, i think you said 1-2 hours a day ) you spend a LONG TIME on the forums making the same exact post over and over |

" Oh dear, how pitiful! Were you really that eager to bring me down? lol. Even if you’re not playing the game, you can still receive notifications about new posts as long as you’re connected to the homepage. Writing a post on the message board is something you can easily do while doing other tasks. You’re not still using DOS as your operating system, are you? Well, if you really are running this game on DOS, I’ll acknowledge your genius. And the thing about someone working and only able to play an hour or two a day—that was just an example. I said it to help explain that from their perspective, it might feel that way. Do I really need to spell out even that much for you? I thought the AI translation was surprisingly decent—was my post really that hard to understand? Anyway, look! We’re having a constructive exchange of opinions, aren’t we? So what’s the problem? Are you upset because you superiority types don’t have a way to butt in? Then go argue and play among yourselves. Just leave us alone, please. |
