Player count since September 25th

0.3.1 IS the poll for 0.4, and no GGG doesn't listen to you common pleb, only to streamers.

It's hard to listen to people with head stuck in their asses.

It's early access and I accept things can change, but I am definitely one data point that stopped playing specifically because of the last patch and I highly doubt I am the one person that did.

It's not like the game is going to die because of a patch some people don't like, but it's also not crazy to think people are lying or that no one is not playing because they didn't like the patch. One thing I know about GGG is they will altar this patch too more than likely. They never seem to set and forget.

Obviously there are multiple reasons and obviously there are people who stopped playing because of the patch like you, but it's not relevant enough to create a post saying that player count dropped because of the patch when there's no visible change in the average/expected player drop per week

I'm not saying the new patch is perfect anyway, of course they have to change it eventually, it's just a bandaid fix to wait for 0.4 after all. But I legit don't know a single person that liked towers aside from some random comments I saw here in the forum

It is dropping due to second month of the league at the same rate before and after the patch. There's literally no impact of the patch on online drop.

Its funny how you trying to substitune real numbers with your fictional ones.

I'd rather say that online was dropping at higher rate while it was 0.3 patch alive in first few weeks.

patch 0.3:
31 aug - 353k
7 sept - 261k (-92k/-26%)
14 sept - 190k (-71k/-27%)

patch 0.3.1:
28 sept - 108k
5 oct - 86k (-22k/-21%)
12 oct - 63k (-23k/-26%)

Partially due to free weekend temporary players and partially due to incredible simplicity of the 0.3 patch, which gives "WIN" to the players too quick.
Anyways these are not numbers which shows anything serious or true at all. Theres tons of factors that can affect this and patch 0.3.1 was not that meaningful.

Worthless post. At any given time, the number of "concurrent players" that are actually in the endgame doing endgame content is almost totally unrelated to the Steam player count because the players farming endgame are such a small percentage of that number.

I'm sick of people co-opting steam chart numbers and making shitty inferences to support opinions. It's to the point that as soon as anyone brings up Steam chart player counts I know to instantly disregard anything that follows.
They need to fix performance issues if they want to retain high player count. And large patches mid-season are a problem because they can cause the game to have to reload the shader cache which can cause stuttering for upto about 10 hours of game time. If you're a "casual" or if POE2 is not your main game. And the developers drop a patch that far into the league and the performance of the game tanks you will probably just hop onto playing something else.

But besides the preload cache the game has other (major) issues in terms of performance. Such as the engine not being able to handle the game's mob density. Netcode latency etc. They need to be worked on. They're the biggest issues I see with the game at the moment.

sep 25-28 area was where the patch was announced. i forget the specific day.

losing 50% of your players from announcement, is pretty significant.

are there other factors? yes. but the drop in players, is mostly patch based however.

alot of peoples builds were effected from patch as well. atlas and character.

and due to the damage the patch did to the economy, and reduction of previously found loot to what it is now, also didnt help.

and the performance this patch was terrible from day 1, also causing a ton of people to ditch the league once it was announced there basically were 0 performance changes.

but to say the the patch was not the main factor would be disingenuous at best, and nieve at worst.

and the free weekend definately pumped up the numbers... and the fall off was substantial.

It's simple, a lot of people don't want the PoE1 screen clearing nonsense and to have 0 challenge in the game, and as such... PoE2 gets the same player dropoff as PoE1 does. Even the guys that like it can't play it for too long because it gets boring really quick.

Game is not enjoyable to play over long periods of time because it's boring and unengaging. It's super simple.
"Sigh"
