Balance for casuals - mechanics for hardcore players - Game for no one

Yeah, I'm one of those that actually likely the difficulty level at 0.1. Now even the monkey is dead :(
Act 1 of 0.1 felt the best out of everything that came about so far. It wasn't perfect of course, but it definitely felt like the game showed serious promise.

I really wonder what the game felt like when they first had some popular PoE1 streamers try the game at an event years ago when all of them were whining and most definitely made them change direction for the worst even back then because they feared any kind of change that could possibly threaten their job.

my take is the randomness of loot make it impossible to not zoom/farm.
It just because skill expression simply doesn’t come as reward. Its not like if i beat arbiter with white gear i suddenly get a set of t1 modifier rare where i gain huge character improvements. It just gives me one of its random drop where its probably gonna do nothing to my build.
If you think about games which encourage skill expression, its always games with fixed rewards and clear progression. (eg Eldenring) And theres no economy or trade system which forces players to farm.

My thoughts exactly, its the RNG, no way to target farm...
I do think the game is at a weird crossroads in that it feels like it WANTS to have that D4 level of casualness where the average person can pick it up and play with the "indtended builds",which is already problematic, but they're simultaneously trying to please a weird hardcore fan base that was never really there to begin with.

So we're in 1 game that's TRYING to be easy while simultaneously another that wants "dark souls" in ARPG format.Tbh I kinda want them to pick a lane at this point because hardcore players already left to a different game that rewards skill while casuals dipped back to D4.
