Battlefield 3 or Modern Warfare 3?

" Both games are pretty casual if you just get in there and start shooting people. Getting into a tactical realism server/league/etc. makes both games quite hardcore. So, I'd say it's a matter of how, where and who you play those games with. About the "vs" part - BF3's coming with huge improvements over BF2, has the core mechanics we all loved in BF2 and the game looks pretty awesome. On the other hand, MW3 looks exactly the same as MW2 and the game appears pretty uninspiring to me. I kinda love the physics in the CoD series, so I might buy that one as well, eventually. But I've already pre-ordered a copy of BF3 :) "Rock is Overpowered. Paper is fine."

cod always had an edge over bf3 in terms of 'pick up and play'.
i mean look at some popular team games like dota or tf2 or bf:bc2... what can i say... team game my ass. everybody is doing what they want. ofcourse when you team up with someone the effect is insane, but the majority is still playing like solo game. that automatically makes the experience worse. cod on the other hand is 'one man army' game thus much easier to enjoy. dont get me wrong - i like battlefield series more, its just the average online gamer makes it difficult to enjoy them. the fact that mw3 wont change much since mw1 is ridiculous tho. whats the point of buying mw3 exactly? one would say graphics, but they didnt change either. more killstreaks? they ruin the game anyway. so what then ? Personnally and with the difference in experience and success, I think Battlefield 3 will be the winner.
But the statistic will be quite close. Pros : Battlefield 3 is semi-realistic as it bring ALL the goods sides of the past battlefield games into one single game. (This include Bad Company 1 and 2) With a totally custom engine for being able to destroy everything like unseen before (that is what is told), this will bring quite a lot of "power" on the game. CoD Modern Warfare 3 is the next installement of a story that have take quite a hollywood kind of develloppement where a couple of man changed the history. This bring lot of attention to specifics character and develloppe trends (for exemple the "Ghost trend" which people look forward to) We are "almost" certain that we will find a new installement of "Survival" (wave of enemies) and "Zombies" as those 2 are what brought lot of players to CoD MW2 and CoD BO. Cons : Battlefield 3 is bringing a totally new adventure. While this isn't something bad, it's still something risky. We are still not sure if they will be aiming at a pure action story, which are easy to forgot, a action + humor story like the Bad Company series, which wasn't see like good from a part of the community, or if they will aim at something like action + real-life or action + sadness which is the kind of story that peope doesn't forgot. On top of that, we are not sure how the new engine will work on consoles as it doesn't need a doctora to know that those current consoles got their limits. And, of course, this bring the possibility of lot of bugs and errors. (Just think of Dead Island's exemple. Lots of proplems and major errors and they have lost quite a part of their players due to that, because people don't want incomplet products) CoD MW3 is bringing back its own story. This can be backstabbing. Especially with the develloppement that they have use for markething. We know that this new installement will be the next from MW2 and that we will accounter some "old friend" which will have changed. (Like the trend about Ghost having changing sides or being a double agent) This is one hell of a risky method as deception is more easily brought than even just acceptance. (Remember that people tend to be more active while being angry than when they are happy. This is a hard reality with game business. Takes years to build a renownship, but takes 1 really bad time to blow it all to dust.) Unlike B3, we haven't heard anything related to the engine and customisation of it. As any other games, we know they will have worked on it, but this means that we might see something quite similar, in terms of gameplay and possibilities, as the previous installements. This is a safe way of doing things (Things that works shouldn't be changed) but this can bring the game as being forgotten more quickly then ever. (By forgotten, I don't mean "not played", but simply that the game will be priced quickly to a lower price and companies like Gamestop (EB Games) will recieve lot of copies back quickly as only collectors and people who have lots of fun with the bonus will keep the game on the shelf.) That is my point of view, from the develloppement of both parties. Last edited by donoghu#3522 on Sep 21, 2011, 9:24:48 AM
