Introducing the Trade-House Idea (Offline Trading)
Whoa CrusaderRO you put a lot into expanding that idea :)
It's my understanding that the dev team has some plan for expanding the trading system but hasn't yet revealed much about it? Can anyone link me or inform me on any deals they know about it? |

" I don't think they released anything yet. Only thing i could find was this from july 2012: " Anyway, i've edited my idea from the previous page to include something important i've forgotten. It doesn't change the basis of trade - bartering - simply because it doesn't involve a unique currency, and it allows you to trade 1-or-more items for one item. This is the same thing you do when you trade with someone! We just need a faster/more reliable way to do it than spamming chat all the time... (and considering the differences in play times/etc it may be hard to find a good deal). And the other problem is the item level that very few people know about, and that is not shown (in a very obvious way) when someone links an item in chat (yes, i want to see the item level of an item when someone links it in ANY chat, without having to ask the guy; if someone wants to sell something really nice - think of how much spam he'd receive... lol). The trading post idea solves these issues, with 2 added benefits: reliability and much lesser time constraints(both for leaving the item in trade for many hours, and for wasting the time to join parties and such). |

i have not read the whole thread but in terms of currencies you would have to advise the vendor what your exchange rates are and what currency items you accept.
Eg Standard currency: A[drop down] accepted currencys x y z Exchange rate: x = 2A, y=4B, 3z=7A The vender then displays all in terms of A. So. example. I want to sell Lioneyes Glare. I choose my standard currecny for this item to be GCP. I tell the vender I accept for this item Chaos orbs, GCP, Regret, Regal, Divine, Exalted. I fill in the rates. GCP = 3chaos GCP = 3regret GCP = 2regal 3GCP = Divine 6GCP = Exalted I fill in the minimum increment: 1 GCP The bid is currently at 10GCP. I decide to bid 11. I Put an Exalted, a divine a gcp and 3 chaos orbs to be held with the vendor. The bid now turns to 11GCP. If i win i get the item. If i lose the vendor gives my orbs back. Essentially however this is an AH system and for a few obvious reasons I dont feel its good for the game. however with regards to introducing an easier trade system I am unsure of how good it is for the game. the problem is, that crafter players will be less crafty and more tradey. This will be a general trend across the game. As such inflation will occur faster! I used to think it was too hard to trade... If you do your homework you will realise that there is a tool on the internet that solves all your trading problems. If you're a trader...then you should be using it. |

What does an "Auction House" entail exactly?
Someone posts an item asking for X money, and players posts bids that are above X money, and the one that gets the highest one wins? 2 questions: 1)Why can't we just have a "trading house" where trades are made just like now, but instead of posting "WTS" or "WTB" in trade-chat/forum, it's made official and easy-to see in said "trading house"? 2)What is wrong exactly with that 1st "auction house" approach? I've skimmed the first pages of this thread, and the "there is no absolute currency" issue seems to be the problem. But why don't just let players decide which bid to take? Let players post which items they are willing to sell, and have everybody else bid for it, using chaos orbs, or wisdom scrolls, whatever. Then the player chooses the "best" bid (basically the currency he wants the most), and sells it to that guy. Maybe include a little chat for the seller and bidders to discuss more about what exactly to bid (i.e what currency the seller would want and which one he wouldn't). Sorry if this has already been discussed previously, didn't really have time to read the 17 pages of this thread (and all other Auction House threads) :/ I support the "off-line" trade option. Not done with the forum (posting "WTS/WTB" threads and PMing people), but indeed using the site (thus having the AH be a feature of the site) And of course I support any feature of this AH that helps with trading, like having products categorized, so for instance I could see all the double-handed weapons people are willing to sell, etc. Also not make it just a simple "lazy" search function, but something more sophisticated so it's easier to find stuff instead of having to wade through hundreds of products in the "search results". |

I support the creation of an Auction House.
With so many item varieties, and such complex currency; it's nearly impossible to find what you're looking for, and even harder to advertise about an item you have at the exact same time someone else is willing to buy. The Auction House would have to be open to input prices in the many different ways someone can pay, thus it would be more like the Trade House mentioned. You could put the items you wish and the items you have for sale, place and accept offers asynchronously. It could also be a website feature. I would see this as the greatest step ahead of this game atm. Last edited by Wessek#1850 on Feb 26, 2013, 4:35:47 PM

Sorry, wall of text. Mind is going crazy with ideas. If you read and have any good feedback . . . Ill give you a few chromatics ;-) . . . until I run out.
1) Do not fully automate the AH, sellers discretion at receipt of top bids (yes plural, bidS) ---a) Seller designates acceptable forms of currency, and quantities. Total [currency form]x[quantity] inequality to quick check if bid is valid. If true pass bid to seller list of bids to accept/deny. Bids directly correlating in [currency form] only accepted if greater than existing. ---b) GGG Does not set the rates of currency in any way shape form or fashion ----EX1: A and B bid on an item. Seller requests 6 chaos or 12 fusing. A bids 6 Chaos; B bids 5 Chaos. B bid is directly correlated to accepted currency, but less than A, not accepted. ----EX2: Seller requests 6 chaos or 12 fusing. A bids 6 Chaos, accepted. B bids 6 fusing, not accepted. Reason: External of any trade rates, assumption is made both sellers requests are equivalent in the seller's mind. An equivalent bid to 6 chaos would be 6 chaos, or 12 fusing, as this is what the seller set as acceptable. Inequality formula (too lazy to work out now) based on seller request to hold true to return -1, 0, 1 for denied, neutral(accepted), accepted. ----EX3: Seller requests 4 chaos, 10 fusing, or 18 jeweler (remember, the system does not care about generally accepted rates, only what the seller wants). A bids 5 fusing, 9 jewelers. A's bid accepted as minimum baseline bid because total bid equals half of two accepted types and amounts, equaling the minimum acceptable bid. B bids 2 chaos, 4 fusing. B's bid denied, 2 fusing short of a bid equivalent to A. C bid's 2 chaos, 7 fusing. C's bid accepted, A's bid NOT auto rejected, as the currency types do not directly correlate. B's bid IS auto rejected, bid same type combo and greater quantity. Sellers discretion to accept. D bids 5 fusing, 10 jewlers. D's bid is accepted. A's bid is automatically declined because of directly correlating currency forms (D Bid: 5F10J > A Bid: 5F9J) 2) Seller returns after auction end and is presented with highest of each bid type. From example 1.c.EX3, presented bids are C with 2 Chaos, 7 Fusing and D with 5 fusing, 10 jewelers. Seller picks winner. Payment automatically deducted from winning buyer to seller. Item automatically transferred from seller to buyer. (temp holding space from AH, limited number of slots ~12-18) 3) Selling process: Seller transfers item to AH holding, item still in stash, but gray-ed out to prevent storage abuse. Seller lists item, sets desired min bid and currency type. Starts auction for standard amount of time, if no bids by end then seller must restart. 4) Buying process: Buyer deposits currency to AH. Currency still in stash but gray-ed out to prevent storage abuse. Buyer allowed to place multiple bids not exceeding total amount of currency deposited. Buyer wins bid, currency automatically transferred, item automatically delivered upon seller action. 5) Seller action timeout: If a seller does not act to make a decision on winning bidder, lowest bid submission ID wins (earliest acceptable bid amount/type submitted still in consideration) automatically. If anyone made it this far . . . punch holes in this for me . . . I think there is a way to be found we can push to GGG to implement something more organized than a forum. At the very least, a shop where sellers can post their items by type, able to list requested prices, and their individual item post, or store post, can have their own persistent forum. easier to search, bid, and contact the seller, even if a system is not put in place to handle. I haven't read the all the thread pages of this, but here's idea I had in my head:
What if there is an NPC that exchanges token for your orbs, and then you use those tokens to bid on the selected item that is being put on for auction. For example: You trade 1 chaos orb and receive 1 token You trade 1 GCP and receive 3 tokens You get the point? The tokens would be a general currency that can be exchanged for whatever the trader wants without going to person to person. This would put a specific price on the orbs but that's kind of how the vendors' work now, you trade items for other items. Once the auction is finished, the seller gets the tokens and then exchanges them for the specific kind of orbs he or she wants. I'm not sure if anyone else posted an idea like this, and I apologize if you did, I wasn't trying to steal anyones ideas, just putting my 2 cents in. :) Last edited by Phantastic#1048 on Feb 28, 2013, 5:54:45 PM

Only caveat with your suggestion is this requires an inherent value setting mechanism. GGG would end up outright declaring exchange rates and values, which they don't want to do with having a barter system. It gets too close to being a gold standard. While they do dictate the rarity and chance for drop of currency orbs, I don't believe they want that rarity to be a factor in value. Intrinsic value is determined by the players, as the orbs which are used as currency, also have a dual purpose of rolling items, etc. No economy like this has ever existed before. Its all about leaving the power to the people.

hello there,
auction house doesn't kill the game it helps facilitate the trade. peaople are spamming trade all the time. so we need it. But there is one problem. when you add the ah in the game, ppl are spending more time using it and they don't play the game as much as they do in d2. with the ah everybody is spending hours in front of a screen filled with items. this game is all about finding items not trading them all the time. so prevent this, the best items in the game must be soulbounds so that ppl WHO collected exalteds can not have the game's best items without even bothering searching for them. so the key to the success is easy. ah + ''best items and maps are soulbound''system. d3 was killed bcs everybody reached everything on ah. so dear mr. chris, don't give us the opportunity to have everything on an auction house, give us the chance to use it on the way to getting ready for the toughest chalenges. so that we can deserve everything by playing the game.. good luck |

An AH would improve the trading system and the game itself.
The cons on forum trading are too huge. Players are offline, bidding on midgame items and don't get a response within 12 hours is one of the best examples. I dont need that item anymore, other bidders are not seeing this and dont place furthers bids. imo 95% of b/o & c/o that are out of date aren't communicated with the seller or the forum. You have to use 3thd Party Websites to check the forum trades, that says all about the forum trading system. ign: SheIsUntouchable
