Blue Screen of Death with some sound cards

Yes, adding the softwareaudio flag does fix the problem, but it introduces another, "extremelybadaudio".

Can't believe this is still an issue. We've had this problem since the beginning. This on top of what has been found that sound in general being on slows this game down substantially. (See below)

Maybe GGG needs to re-vamp the whole sound portion of the game? having to use software audio seems to slow down login times and loading times quite a bit, not to mention spell lag, which seems to be sound related as well (again, see the reddit post above) I tested this yesterday, and with --nosound the game runs 10X better, no lag on spells and loads in a fraction of the time.
Sound card: Auzentech X-Fi Forte 7.1

Problems with other games/software: zero.

So, it's hard for me to believe that the "soundcard has problems with PoE".

Maybe add some additional debug output for the log file around this "decoded no data" issue, so we don't have to guess how to fix it and waste time with downloading the full 6GB over and over again, install weird VPN stuff and what not.

Also unsure about packcheck.exe - when it says, the files are in sync, are they OK or could there still be data corruption?

Anyways, --softwareaudio seemed to help, at least until now (just played a few minutes after the last series of crashes)
Well, having a Creative X-Fi with Aion, LoTR, WoW, SWToR, Diablo 3 and Tera running without any sound bugs or sound problems.

I also tried the described software audio. Could play much longer but gor the BSOD as well. Every time I got it was during area change. Hardware sound crashed when I enterd Lioneye, software audio when I entered ship graveyard.

So I cannot see any problem on my side.
Just downloaded this game a couple days ago after hearing about it while reading a review for another game and I'm really liking the game. However, what I'm not liking is the fact that I get bsod every time I try to play this game. Since building my rig several years ago this is the first game I have come across with this issue. I've played many games some good some crappy and I can't believe out of all the games played this one is having issues.

SB X-Fi Titanium

I guess I should be glad it's a free game and I didn't waste money as I will have to uninstall until they fix this issue.
This ( --softwareaudio) did not seem to fix my problem (decoded no data for OGG files). I'm using SB X-Fi Xtrememusic
It may be partially due to the fact that I'm using a wrapper/loader program for the client, and it may not be interpreting the command-line part.

edit: indeed, it isn't accepting the command-line parameters.

If this freaking game finally put in a damn configurable FPS cap I wouldn't need to use this wrapper program. What's taking so long to add such a feature?

Aside from that, it's pretty frustrating that I can't use crossfire either, since otherwise my game will occasionally BSOD. Can't use sound card, can't use video card— great.

I want to love this game, but I simply can't play it because of my sound card! Please fix this issue soon GGG!!
I only downloaded POE a few days ago, but the game makes my laptop crash completely after around 15/20 mins of play.

I'll try --softwareaudio and see if it fixes the problem. I really hope it does, as I think I'm going to really enjoy this game if I can actually play it!
Looks like the patch 0.11.0 replaced the .exe file with a new one as i had to type "-- softwareaudio" into it in again, took me some time to remember what to do against the problem.

If you have a creative labs X-fi (not an xtremeaudio), any PCI or PCI-E version,

Click on start menu->Run->Regedit
go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/Currentcontrolset/Control/Creative Tech

Go to Driver folder.
Then look for the PCI&VEN_1102&DEV_XXXX folder that should be there. Then click on the folder.

Add a new STRING and name it DisableXRAM, and set it to a string value of 1.
If you have more than one PCI&VEN in there, do it for the other folder.

Then restart the computer and test for any BSOD's while running the game or alt tabbing with the game running.

this solves. ty.

win 7 x64, x-fi titanium
