Blue Screen of Death with some sound cards

I flew off the game with an error when entering the dark forest and other. i put a tick "Mute when in background" in sound setting. and works fine. game not out off error.

POS dev, fix this shit now, this only game that ever give me bluescreen.

I just ordered a new Sounblaster Z card to replace my X-Fi, in hopes of curing this BSOD bullcrap, after seeing posts that the Xonar and Auzentech cards ALSO have nasty crash issues with this game. If this game won't even be able to work will the latest and most mainstream sound card offering, then this developer is hopeless and should switch to making console games instead with their homogenous environments, leave the PC business to devs who understand hardware and drivers. Maybe PoE can be a PS4 exclusive, I'm sure Sony will take you in with open arms.

I will keep you guys posted.

Just got my first BSOD playing the game :(

me too 2 crashes today had not happened in 1 month wth

played with sound card disabled from device manager (x-fi) for a few weeks. One week ago set game shortcut with "--nosound" parameter and enabled audio card in the device manager and played without bsod. Today my sound card "X-Fi Xtreme Music" does not working anymore. It isn't even seen from device manager :(

I Get the same thing when "launching" the game and then alt/Tab out while it loads. Loading seems to take a lot longer than most games but no biggy. POE is the only game this happens on


Obviously avoidable for me as I can just wait for POE to fully load and then I can Alt/Tab all I want.

Point being there is some kind of issue.

****ATTENTION****

I am pleased to report that after upgrading from a Soundblaster X-Fi to a Soundblaster Z, taking care to completely remove all Creative software first, all my BSODs have STOPPED with Path of Exile. Using the latest Soundblaster Z drivers released 3 days ago, everything is perfect. The latest X-Fi drivers did NOT solve the BSODs for me, but this did.

I even Alt-Tabbed out of the game, launched Zune music player and played "I Love It" by Icona Pop and Alt-Tabbed back into the game with it still playing, so that the game music and the MP3 were playing at the same... no crashes. And I did not have to tick the "Mute when game is in background" box.

I paid $115 for my Z and sold the X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty on eBay for $65, so not a big price to pay if you really want to play this game.

I ALSO strongly suggest that you run from the free DPC Latency Check tool from http://www.thesycon.de/eng/latency_check.shtml to make sure sure all your bars are green. Before I had some sort of bad driver or software installed that was giving me a lot of audio lag (red bars) which MAY have contributed to the issue as well, though that is just speculation.
