Flipping is amazingly profitable in POE
" I couldn't agree more, Charan, wealth in and of itself is indeed worthless. My philosophy is that at some point in time the wealth I acquire is shared. Success unshared equals failure, and it is with that regard I share; it makes the pursuit of becoming wealthy more meaningful. Perhaps some might assert I would only share to 'show off'; nevertheless, I was once a fellow groundling (as one might say from the Elizabethan Era), and I remember having no support from the onset, nor did I have adequate guidance to veer me off the path from 'return'--mistakes only lead us back to the beginning, no? I think you and I are much alike as far as being somewhat utilitarian in some of our engagements here on the forum. It is my faith in life that drives me to do what I think is good with the right intentions without the expectation of restitution--for the seemingly insurmountable trials that come after intent through action. In summation: Yes, I agree with you, wealth for the sake of wealth is a form of dross. However, there is no loss when part of the return on my investments means that I can help others along the way. Flipping is profitable in any economic arena.
Also, it's possible to only flip from time to time as needed, or to only loosely watch for opportunities and capitalize as they arise. |

I don't have the patience to flip. If someone does though, more power to them.

Standard just needs periodic full currency wipes along with equipment wear/tear. Have to constantly repair all your equipment with armorscraps/whetstones or they break into useless trash. Now it no longer becomes viable to constantly horde everything and you actually have a reason to really play.
I wouldn't have such an issue with self-found if it weren't so impossible to self find some build enabling gear. Voltaxic Rift for example.. the whole lightning to chaos is pretty sweet. Now a ranger never really needs to worry about elemental reflect or phys reflect. Pretty cool. Chances of me finding or making one?? Yeah pretty slim. How bout self finding a multistrike gem on hardcore? Yeah slim as well. I wouldnt mind self found so much if there was a way to craft and level up stuff in that a way that its clearly obvious that more play time == better off.. Ergo... easy to get a Voltaxic Rift thats weak but you have to use it to level it up to get it stats right. Meh... whatever tho. I guess Ill just pudge along. IGN: DeathIsMyBestFriend, Illirianah

If you're flipping stuff to save up for gear, then that makes sense. If you're just hoarding a bunch of currency then you [personal removal].
Trading, on the other hand, is just the normal way to get your GGG gear in PoE. " Hmmm, interesting point. I on the other hand like standard, in part, because it allows me to have greater purchasing power that enables me to try out more builds without having to invest currencies on other leagues. In my current position on standard I can try out anything--even something extremely crazy/unorthodox--without the risk of losing much given the prices of most items on standard vs other leagues. Case in point: Some 6L items on other leagues cost 100 - 400% more. ┌∩┐(◣_◢)┌∩┐ Last edited by Azarius#0884 on Sep 18, 2013, 10:09:43 PM

" which is why mr flip needs to gain satisfaction by bragging on forums about playing the chat for "currency" |

Mr Flip here. Just made 13 exalted profit on another Mirror of Kalandra. Anyone want to buy some eternals for 3ex 2gcp each?
Btw, flipping is what enables me to build any character in the game with whatever gear I want. I can farm on them for fun whenever I want but I'd never make much profit. I could find a kaoms heart and sell it for 35 exalts and I'd only have made two days worth of profit. I just spent 60 exalted crafting to break even. I'd consider being able to have anything you want in the game and do anything you want to be pretty fun myself. Last edited by GreenGuy#7978 on Sep 27, 2013, 12:52:43 PM

" I also see them spamming trade chat with the same items for hours/days. At some point in time a MF sporker is going to make more per hour than people trying to flip, if the ones trying to flip are unsuccessful at buying low & selling high. I can make 6-8 chaos per hour doing combos and vendoring for alts. If a flipper fails to make that much profit flipping items in the same amount of time while just playing trade channels, then I succeeded in making more than they did. The best way to play the game is to farm, while paying attention to the trade channels, and for example, earlier I saw a guy slip up and sell 400 alchemy orbs for 4:1 chaos and I snagged them for 100 chaos. Turned around and flipped them for 75:1 exalt, or 3:1 chaos. Also saw a guy slip up and sell a bunch of unique items for 2 chaos, and maligaro's gloves happened to be in the middle wall of junk uniques, so I snatched those up immediately. You can do stuff like this WHILE farming. Last edited by MrSmiley21#1051 on Sep 27, 2013, 1:09:47 PM

" But you're playing on Default league. You can pretty much do that anyway. Good gear in default is ridiculously cheap - it's the lowest common denominator and the dumping ground of all other leagues. lol. Try doing it in the "parent" leagues. |
