Finally. RoA/LA are the SAME as sporker. Can stack just as much MF as well. Reflect? Run Voltaxic Rift, still cheaper than a Shavs. On top of that, They have More survivability because they can leech. Just not as popular at the moment to hate on them, but it will come.
I disagree, there are powerful builds indeed that can kill fast and efficient, but they also require maximum attention and engagement, if you slip you're dead. It's not similar to foolproof sporker playstyle, one of my friends describe it like this "Open door, throw totems in, wait, pickup up the loot, rinse and repeat"
So all you have to do with sporker is to use some bait, wait somewhere in quiet and collect loot, mostly. Other guys must go into fray directly. But as I was saying I don't condemn ppl who want to play like that. Each to his own.
Btw I have elemental SA/chain archer (very similar to LA archer really) and it has NO room for iir/q gear. All of his gear is dedicated to dps /survival because he needs it badly. But he's badass killer, I agree. Still does not dish out such crazy dps as good blender or some shadow builds. I have discharger too, same story, this build requires very specific gear, it's like suicide bomber (but sometimes fuse don't lit and you're in trouble :) but very little room for iir/q.
Your friend clearly doesn't play high level maps with sporker, then. LA -> offscreen piety. Sporker.. Very problematic. Same with Arcmages/Chain.
Do you have voltaxic rift? Remember that a shavs is 40-60exalt (Idk how much they go for now, I chanced mine.) Hook an LA ranger up with 40-60exalt and he can stack MF to the ceiling. My friends 83 LA clears much faster than my 87 3.5K dps sporker, and he stacks 150/250, Where as I have 70/240.

Every build has it's strong points and weak spots. If you invest very heavily to your character (50 exalts is exactly that, I would say very few percent of people is able to do so, ever) I guess you can get best of the best gear and afford (resist wise)andvarius and similar goodies. But those are extreme cases that prove nothing. Rule is that sporker is easier to gear, play and equip with iir/q then almost every other class. Well it has to be some class one way or the other.

I cannot for the life me understand why people think dual totem spork is boring. Dual totem is pretty much the only alternative to any other build in which you simply curse and trap/spray. They simply have a dash more depth and interactivity. Your totem placement matters, for your totem's and your own safety. You keep your charges up, while ensuring shit dies, got 2 totems up at all times and that no one's on to you. If shit hits the fan, you start totemwalking. People like to give a hard time about the damage dual totem characters can achieve, but the totems are about as resilient as chicken eggs, and you need to kill before they are killed. You've got nothing to leech with and your damage = your safety.
As for sporker safety, I've got 1150dps without charges and it still isn't easymode unless you run nothing scary. The image of dual totem sporker being "easy mode" all the way is simply absurd, especially coming from a guy who plays the game since closed beta and only now learns that totems do not reflect damage on to the player. Like with any viable build, it handles most packs very well, but there are shit that it can't handle. For example, a champ LMP/GMP fire aclhemist pack renders your totems nearly useless. They die the very instant you raise them. Sporkers have their very distinctive strong points, like massive damage in narrow hallways, and very little trouble against ele reflect for the most part, but it is still very far from the invulnerable, boring build people like to call it. Both in terms of safety and especially in it's mechanics.
I am fairly certain that much of this is simply some ongoing bandwagoning stigma, and people refuse to/can't take things from face value simply because they either haven't played it, or do not want to be marked as "cookie cutters". Or genuinely find the build boring.
TL;DR: I think Dual totem sporking is fun.
Nice post!
I started a sporker (I didn't even know it was called that) a few days ago because I am a returning newbie and was just looking for something to go for on my Witch. This topic was interesting to read, but really needed your post for some nuance.
But what is totemwalking? Retreating from enemies bit by bit while you keep casting totems for those who follow you?

Well, you can link life leech to totems.... just run away, link life leech instead of Item Quantity, and return :).
I hope, totems and other summons willbe nerfed on release. Although some enjoy those builds, i bet most players play sporkers just because they're too effective and easy to gear up, and not because they like spork-totem style.

Spork costs the same to gear as EleCleave, LA, Discharger, FBreaker, FP, etc, if you are doing anything other than farming docks.

I don't know if it's an official term, but that is what I mean :P. You should totemwalk forwards too, if the map gets scary.
And I still think that ele reflect is little trouble most of the time, since you can chain a manapot and keep raising your totems about as fast as they die. It's annoying, but nothing too bad. A real pain as a map mod though. Adding life leech as a 6th link is not really feasible, because it raises the manacost through the roof, and I don't think the rate of leeching would be enough when you're critting lightning back to a totem with no lightning resistance :P.
