So what do people think of Dominus?

What kind of damage do the suicide explosions do? I've determined that they cant be blocked, I'm not sure about anything else. It seems to be a run of the mill "run until it expires" type move, which isnt a particularly satisfying boss strategy, though GGG certainly seems to like it.

Pure fire dmg from the exploding zombies.
I see. Wish they could be blocked. They hit like a truck, and a ruby flask isnt about to change that, unless you're already packing rise of the phoenix. Looks like it really is just another "run until it's safe again" move.

Disappointed that GGG appears to not of even tried to stress test the dominus fight after all the issues that occurred when they first introduced Piety.

But the fight in general is a bit overdone and too chaotic for my tastes.

Well I only fought him on normal because i dont have the time or focus to go at the pace alot of other peeps go at.

but i stun locked him. it was quite comical but that what 2500 dps 70% of which is pure physical

does when you are level 35

and when you have all the good stun threshold and duration passives

What are you using to get 2500dps at level 35?

geopheries baptisms what else is manly enough to slay manly monsters?
fight is awesome :D
I don't like the design of the fight at all. A classic example of an epic boss fight is vs Diablo in D2 act4. You and the boss in a big room. He is so badass he doesn't need phases, doesn't need minions. Only needs his skills to murder you. I could do 50 diablo runs in a row and won't get bored.

Dominus feels like something you should expect to see in a mmo - 2 sets of mini-bosses, constant flood of white trash mobs, 2 main boss phases, the second one containing a classic mmo mechanic - "don't stay in the fire", in this case don't stay in the rain. Once I kill him I make no plans to revisit him ever on my current character. Vaal oversoul remains my favorite fight in PoE for now.

Difficulty wise it seems fine, I remember vaal and piety being much more deadly the first time they were introduced. The only dangerous thing when fighting him is the fps drop + lag, not so much any of his attacks.

And one final observation that is neither good or bad - the red thing that he transforms into just looks like a giant old retarded rabbit to me. I am not sure what it is supposed to represent.

merciless: facerolled it yesterday with level 69. 2 minute encounter, no deaths. outgeared.

Lol, HOW?
My tanky Marauder died serval times on him, it's like my 4300 life, overmaxed resists and almost 70% phys damage reduction have no effect on him. I would call the whole fight imba. Especialy single player and without great gear. I want to see the build that can stand Dominus without dying.
Well, I beat him down but I was dying alot, lost all of my XP and can be happy that I only play Softcore.
Dominus is no fun at all, at least not for the "average player" that don#t trade godlike gear or constantly farm in groups.

...And then are still people that want to BUFF this guy? SERIOUSLY?!?!?!? -_-

well i have high EV he does not hit me and the last phase is dead after a few seconds.
80k dps atm. i have it on farmstatsus now. one run 5 minutes, good loot. sometimes ;p

maybe try blind, works wonders :-)

Evasion? Hmm...this could be some valid point because my Marauder can't evade because of the "Unwavering Stance" passive, he always gets hit but can't be stunned. But this would be strange if evasion in PoE is so much more powerful than Armor and a tanky build. ^^" You can't 100% evade all the time and the problem is, IF you get hit, it hurts much more if you don't have some good armor and resists left. But Tanky and evasion is hard to build.
If Dominus really is doable with good evasion, I may have hope for my new Ranger build, it will be a crit/evasion build, my first one of this kind ever. Acrobatics and such stuff, let's see if it is worth it compared to my old Unwavering Stance build. :)

But please tell me how to get 80K DPS... O.o"

i think there are plenty of valid methods to not get hit by him. EV got buffed in OB and is quite nice now.

try blind mate. you will se a difference.
you get high dps if you focus around crit and critmulti. my build has 95% critchance in the end.
a decent weapon helps too ;)
Seems like hes balanced around group play. Solo Im dieing left and right to Dominus, in a group I don't know wtf is going on, just his hp is going down and the fight is easy as shit.

Dont like the fight at all ,first of all the 8 levels of Scepter of God are just incredibly tedious to go trough.Sure they arent very large ,but it just keeps going on and on.
Same mindset like Solaris temple: lets reduce it to 2 areas ,but lets make the even larger. Its basically the same thing.

To many monsters on screen, the "titty bitches" are a real pain in the ass if youre not hp based (or have low hp) ,the cheap ass insta death puncture rain really felt like a slap in the face.
Dominus himself is easy ,the combination of all the waves of monters with him artificially step up the difficult.
