So what do people think of Dominus?
Went in blind and died to blood rain XD that sorta sucked, but I think it is a fairly good fight. I like the entire scep its a nice crawl up to floor 7. The lightning trap boss is pretty ridiculous,it nearly took out my entire group.
Now that ive had a chance to solo the entire thing on SC it is easyt o tell what is going on. I don't see what is so bad about it, 6 min-bosses and dom only = more loots. edit: It seems like the best boss fight yet. 4.5/5 Last edited by Vinrog#1783 on Oct 29, 2013, 12:10:48 PM

first time i did it w/ a char i had prepared on standard (lvl 35 witch): mind = blown.
its a great fight, they have tried to make it very multifaceted (thats also the biggest difficulty about it). if ur prepared for everything (including staunching flasks etc) or overleveled then ofc it gets manageable solo. but a melee for example cant walk into the cyclone guy unless he has really high armour/block, so its a group thing, really. as some people said: there were a couple of times when i thought: "what? another wave/form?" but when u see it from a story perspective (after all even piety is just a marionette of him) then it makes sense he shows up w/ lots of minions. also i found that the fight is different in norm and cruel (e.g. dominus always instantly curses u with that "attract exploding minions"-curse when u get near the corpse elevator to refill charges - maybe he has higher mana pool or lower cooldown time of skills in higher difficulty). Has Anyone tried Atziris Mirror shield on him? I wonder what that curse would do to him, and if the minions would explode on him as well..

" I doubt it is considered a curse, since curse removal flasks dont seem to work. IGN: Iolar

" I agree with this wholeheartedly. It feels like the fights have very little substance. You're not really getting accquainted with a bosses moveset as much as you are learning when to run around like a headless chicken and when to hit. Piety was the same deal. Run when she transforms, hit when she reverts. IGN: Iolar

Like a lot of other people said, I went in completely blind on a new Nemesis toon. I wanted the new "content" to be fresh and new and done at an appropriate level on a self-found build.
Getting to Dominus was the hard part. The unique mobs right before the Dominus fight were extremely frustrating because that Cyclone spammer kept fucking desyncing. The Dominus fight itself, for the first time on Normal, was confusing. His ground slam attack seemed to do completely random damage. One time it hit me for like, 50 Life, another time it hit for 200. His Lightning Siphon (idk wtf its called) was weird too, I had maxed resists so it either didn't do damage or...I don't know. The second phase, shit hit the fan. The bleed was pretty unexpected but once I figured out it was a bleed, I just had to stay still. I wanted to be as safe as possible so I stood back using Spectral Throw. Then Blood Rain started. In the time it took me to open up a portal to bitch out, he already killed me. I figured it out after I died but I lost my first toon on Nemesis to Dominus. Did it again on a new toon on Nemesis and it was pretty ok. The adds he spawned were more of a threat than he was. Did it on Cruel and there were a few scary parts. I refuse to do it on Merciless. Overall I'd say the Dominus fight itself isn't too bad, there's some new mechanics and a few things I can see directly countering a few builds but the idea of the fight is cool. The problem is all of the new areas... If you're reading this, I'm probably on another year-long ban.

Just did him for the first time with my Lvl 38 Infernal Blow Maurader i didnt like it at all.
of course i died a few times going in without knowin what to expect, the first phase was pretty easy (killing his named guards) the second phase already got me intro trouble simply because i rarly could do dmg to him. either there were to many of his pets or when i got the chance to hit him he summoned his totems that would keep me from getting into range. it was doable yeah, but it was more dodgeing and waiting for that 1 second opening to get a hit or two the third phase is simply bad design (and also seems to be bugged) after i got killed by the rain for the first time i saw the bubble and knew what to do, problem was getting there. sometimes when i re-entered the arena the rain started and i got killed by the stacks before i could reach the bubble. sometimes a hand would come out of the ground and port me to him, sometimes nothing happend and i just died from the stack. when the hand appeared and moved me to him i got shot down from all those ranged mobs + dominus attacks. seems like there is a lot of lag/desync happening in this fight. sometimes the hand would come out of the ground right under my character but nothing happend. skill execution didnt happen or it took 1-2 seconds till it happen. mobs would jump around the map. never encounterd any of those problems before throughout the game (except the small desync from time to time) also visibility is a huge problem in this fight cause you gotta find a red boss in an arena coverd with red rain with tons of red monsters in it. i think this boss needs a good amount of rework. the general idea is great and i think it could be a lot of fun, but chaos going on on the screen, added with the techincal problems just add a lot of frustration. im not looking forward killing this guy on Cruel :( |
