Big streamer starts poe-> desync death:(

Seriously though, it makes me sad to see the game damaged by this, but its GGG's fault for not addressing the issue.

How so? Have you actually seen the damage?

I mean, people who follow athene who already plays the game will continue playing the game (or quit) because they already have their own opinion about the game. Then you have followers who have never heard of POE, and who probably would have never have had it not been for Athene. The very worst case scenario is that none of these followers will play POE. No difference had Athene not played the game in the first play.
A person with a gun can stream themselves using the gun. The gun could jam and then they would go about clearing the jam but they do it unsafely. This results in them getting shot in the face. On stream. Everyone who follows the would see it.

I don't think you would see people blaming the gun manufacturer. Telling them that it is their fault some guy shot himself in the face. Because gun owners aren't stupid people. This is much the same. Some new player got himself killed because he didn't know what was going on or how to fix it.

Yes, it would be nice if desync wasn't a problem. It is. GGG is working to fix it as best they can. If you don't like it, Leave. It's the most powerful thing you can do.

What a great way to advertise the game.

Athene is a dick, people hate him, none of that matters.
What matters is that he is popular, and he accidentally came across the biggest desync hardcore death ever while many people, who probably don't know about this game, were watching. Now they probably have the worst impression of this game ever.

Pretty much sums it up.
The game does not adapt to you, you adapt to it.
Does GGG have the resources to correct this issue? They seem to just ignore it and state it is part of gameplay, yet they encourage players to play risky and difficult leagues that have permadeath.

They should publicly acknowledge the issue and utilize more resources to correcting it. Or, offer some sort of in-game support for deaths that occur as a result of it? I don't know but it's a significant issue that is probably causing players to leave the game, which ultimately means less money for GGG. Why allow that?

They have the resources to correct the issue, but they don't deem it to be of enough effect on game-play to be worth spending those resources, preferring to use them on other areas of development.

I logged in to comment in this thread, but I had not yet gotten to your post when I did. I read your post and my mind went blank and I forgot what I was going to type in the first place.

That analogy is absolutely trash. It's not even remotely the same thing. If you want me to make one up for you using the gun, I will. If someone was using a gun, and it blew up in their hand, because of a well known defect, and then people stopped buying that gun, it would be the same.

The "desync." in this game is fucking AWFUL. I've thought about playing on HC but I die from lag all of the time in the normal league. I absolutely would never invest time and energy into HC, you know, one of the main draws of a game like this, because of this issue. It's quite honestly a HUGE drawback to the game, and it makes me not want to play it at all. I have a friend that I play with right now that says "I don't know if I can continue playing this game." every time we play, and we basically just started.

The desync is game breaking. It can and will get you killed while trying to play the game. It's something that is completely out of your control. It's not "part of the game." as some people seem to want to spout off about, it's something that should be at the top of the list of things that should be being fixed, right this minute.

What I would love to know is what Athene was doing wrong, or how he could have "fixed." an issue that is completely out of his control. I was watching the stream when this was happening and Brutus started teleporting around and shit. It was fucking useless.

This is bad for the game. Someone like Athene, like it or not, has a lot of fans, and has a good amount of power in this gaming community. Him showcasing a game, and then basically showing that it's broken, is fucking awful for the game itself, and as someone who would like to see this game with a good following, and as someone who would like to be able to enjoy the whole game without feeling like it's broken, I want the issue fixed.

????????????

The relevant analogy would be if someone buys a gun and pulls it straight out of the box, only for the gun to go off unexpectedly and wounding the person in the process.

In Americaland I heard that means a lawsuit with the guy standing to win a lot of money.

How on earth did you learn how to use a computer seriously.

I wanted to make a response to that terrible gun accidental death vs computer game death comparison. Then thought against it. Would be terrible if I actually entertained such ridiculous thought. I'm glad to see many share my sentiment.
The so called big guy is not popular as he used to be. He was arrested for rage in LoL gaming chat and well known for his bad behavior. Even after the his (famous) dysec death he is still playing poe and live steaming it. (and asking for donation.)
P.S : i saw his gameplay before his death , i must say he was playing like noob !
Please RNG give me a fishing rod !
