Tool or not, massive desynch combined with glitching into impassable terrain within five hours of starting streaming a new game... That's just terrible publicity right there. PoE just got a free three hour "why not to play PoE" infomercial courtesy of this guy.

Which is exactly the opposite reason games have streamers around. They're supposed to be walking free advertisements for why you should play the game.

He portrays himself as a tool on the internet (his "act"), we see him act like a tool because we see him on the internet, but we're idiots because we can't see past his "internet persona" (you know, the only part of him you get to see) and see what a nice guy he is?

When he acts like a tool, he's gonna be treated like one, I'm sure he realizes this, and if it's just part of his act to draw attention to himself, then I imagine he's used to those reactions, so he doesn't need you defend his honor on internet forums.

That said, the video really is pretty bad, and it's not a very good thing to show off. Someone new to the game shouldn't have to assume they need to be ready to portal because the game is gonna glitch out on them and suddenly stick them in a corner where they can't move while they get chopped to death. If this were a rare occurrence we could dismiss it as bad luck, but it really isn't a rare occurrence. Heck several skills and builds pretty much flat out state you need to bind /oos to a key to make it workable at all. That simply should not exist.

Yeah. as long as you give to charity you can be a toolbag. how about getting a real job? How about actually getting off your ass and go to a disaster site and help out? how hard is it to sit there while kids paypal money to you?

If athene was really interested in the game then he would have have jumped on it in beta.

Most likely his subscribers asked him to play it and he eventually had to.

He ended up dying which gave him an excuse to stop.

He was never interested in it himself, so the end result was unavoidable.
