I'm using evasion/armor hybrid and iron rings.

There is no best, it's a matter of choice.
Rangers can use any equipment in the game and be nearly as effective as any other class. its all about what you spend your passive skills on, and what skill gems and support gems you use (or want to use). Ranger starts in the dex area, so it would make the most sense to use dex stuff for ranger builds. Bows, swords, dex armor, dex-str armor, daggers, claws (the last two weapons aren't too effective yet due to a lack of skills, but still sorta have uses) Fresh cakes for all occasions. " i crafted rare iron ring and i got energy shield mod on it... kinda useless for ranger right ? is there specific mods for each type of ring ? |

" It's totally random, so you have to try numerous times. I suggested you iron ring because it have some damage on it as base, you can have more damage mods, accuracy, dex, etc if you are lucky. In my opinion, an iron ring is the worst possible one to spend an alchemy orb on. Rings in general are, since they can get any kind of mods, so the chance of an optimal one is smaller.
Take into consideration that different items can have different mods, and that items get mods corresponding to the stat they use. (Pure dexterity armor with +energy shield is rare) Weapon: potential very high damage, +attack gem level mod, other offensive mods, a few defensive ones. If you want offense, make these. Body armor: second most base defensive stat after shields, can get very high with % increase mods. If you need more protection, this is the best choice Gloves: They often have health/mana leech mods Boots: The only equipment with movement speed mods. Helm: No idea :( Shield: Most defensive stat, and also gives block chance. If you build for shields, a good shield can give massive relative bonuses. Jewelry (including belts): These can have any kind of mods as I mentioned above, so it's much more of a gamble to make these. One mod only these can have is reduced energy shield recharge delay, which is not much of use for you. Don't forget that if you want to upgrade an item for long term use, raise it's quality before you upgrade it, you only need a fifth of the items. Also, sometimes magic items can be very powerful too. Rares have 4-6 mods, magics have 2. It can still be a +85% physical damage +21% attack speed one. |

" After the recent patches, I save pretty much all of my alchemy orbs for bows. For an archer-ranger, upgrading your bow to a good, high-da bow with the highest base type you're able to equip is far and away the highest priority. And given the scarcity of orbs you will likely need most/all of the alchemy orbs you find to do that on a regular basis. |

My Ranger struggles with Strength and Intelligence so I tend to look for those stats
