Act 5 Innocence Boss

What kind of damage does his attacks do? His 2nd phase was able to 1 shot me with one of his attacks. Nothing leading up to this boss could 1 shot me nor posed much of a threat and the first phase of this boss fight was quite manageable (had to play pretty safe of course), though his outward spiral of balls or whatever attack would kill me in 4~ rapid hits. In his second phase that same attack just insta kills me as soon as I touch any of it, the other attacks seemed survivable (most of them took me down to 10-20% life if they hit me).

1,200~ Life
66% Damage Reduction (armour)
75% Elemental Resistances
12% Chaos Resistance

Aside from not being able to determine what I needed to do to bolster my survivability (there is no text under the boss health bar explaining his damage type nor does yellow balls of "holy" energy seem like elemental or chaos damage, do his attacks deal physical damage?) I didn't think this paragraph through to a proper conclusion.

Oh and I'm playing a melee build if anyone is curious, surprisingly this boss had plenty of openings and well choreographed attacks making for an actually interesting boss fight for melee for once!

I should probably mention this too: After 2 deaths I started to zerg rush him, after my 5th death I realized I should just play a lot more tactically than I normally would and managed to beat the boss after 7 deaths. So my character has currently died a total of 7 times. I found the boss pretty fun though the lack of being able to determine what defense I needed to bolster was annoying.

According to poedb, he mostly does fire damage.
His "Avarius Divine Slam" appears to be pure physical, though.

And personally, I think the game is trying to tell us to get more HP from this act on.

I did that for the first time as melee, too, I enjoyed the fight, though some skill combinations felt a bit too much to avoid on melee range - I suppose that is the case with melee in general.
The only dangerous part of the fight are the big statues that hit like a truck and maim you, as long as you avoid those it shouldn't be too hard. For the beam you can just circle around the boss or hide behind a pillar, for bullet hell just hide or run far away enough to not get hit by multiple at once.

Their pretty slow at moving forward, attacking as well as rotating, so you can easily bait them in to an attack to give you the time to safely get 3 or 4 hits in to the boss, or you can simply lure the boss to the opposite side of the arena and wail on him.

The golems did about 90% of my life per hit but their so slow and easy to kite that you can easily run away/circle around them with a flask recovering your life.

Honestly I have only played the Xbox edition It took me at least ten times to finally ko it but at 792 life what could you expect. What I found that helped though was leading the statues into the center right before they stopped moving and made a barrier of sorts. It helped with the beam attack and the orbs whenever the boss moved

Yepp more hp, in the same way the act6 scorching rays tells us "fix your resistances".

The dificulty off the act bosses are sadly not linear. Ex act9 boss is well... far far to easy, so when you get to act10 you hit a wall.
"I am..YOUR GOD!"

I died to that attack during my first attempt at Act 5 Innocence on my first HHC character after coming back from a 2-year break! (Last I remember, Malachai was the new thing!)

I understand your pain, friend.
Little birds fly in the vast blue sky. The ocean reflects its blue unto the sky.
Oceanic sky of blue fantasy. The skies' tears of deep melancholy.
Little birds fly in our deepest sorrow. Little birds feel our deepest pain.
The slam if pure phys and a lot of it, so when you take that it you're armor does less, since the higher damage in a single hit the less effective your armor is.
At this point if you are HC the game tells you to ask for help or overcap for 2h grind -.- this is pure idiocy, one shot from the I am your god atk... I dislike how this is made, he should move more and do less damage. The game is linear when avoiding, but when it comes to avoid as a close range character this is pure madness!
Yeah well... i had to start to play as HC cos my friends do HC and as oldschool D2&D3 and WoW player the game seemed fun and great. Then i met Innocence... Like i sayd, i have experience of games and fights like these, i know how to avoid things and not stand in fire yet still, my first character just suddenly died and my friend who was with me at the fight also sayd that he has no idea what killed me, no visual effects or voicelines were presented. I died 0,2sec before the boss went down... Well... Back to making a new character.

I was bit pissed about what happened with innocence so my next char was scion tank with ALL points in defence and life. i had 0 damage skills cos i just warcry herds and my friend does the damage.

Well, we did bit overleveling and i was standing with all res capped (alot over actually) and with 70% phys dam reduce and cant remember the exact HP, i belive it was `bout 2000. Every boss and mob gang went well, id say i felt like bit too overpowered as tanking cos my hp didnt move at all.

Yeah you all know it by now... We did innocence with 2 friends, the fight went well, avoided stuff and had to use flask once, then we went to phase 2, all well, except suddenly i just die... from full HP with lots of buffs on me, im just dead, i had no way to use potions or anything cos again non of my friends noticed anything that just can kill me 1 shot, no lightning buds or anything on my feet or anything...

Game seems fun, and i do like HC but this is just BS, no monster before that fight could take my hp down eaven by 5% cos i had so mad overlevels and overskilled in defence. Then just to get oneshotted by... by... well we dont know by what... All i know im watching the resurect button.

I did support this game by using about 20$ and i do not regret it, but things like this really ruins the HC experience. Im the first one to say the game was too easy untill that fight but really... Some adjustments really needed there
