Constant crashes to desktop / No ERROR

Only today I started having this problem. No matter if I'm full screened, or windowed fullscreen. Game randomly just disappears and I'm at desktop. I checked logues for errors and nothing is listed in there...

If your windows is 10 - errors can't be showed sometimes, but on w7 all errors shows. So, no errors description - no solution. Check your windows application errors logs at first, if there no errors - trouble in game settings or smth...
It's just this shitty game. It has nothing to do with me. There's no reason I can play for 6 days straight, then on the 7th it's randomly doing this stupid shit. Done after this league anyways. Game is trash.
Got to the point where it started crashing non stop. Finally got an error message. And of course it's like I said. Not me, just this trash fucking game. I don't even have a tabula rasa so who knows wtf this thing is even on about.

Hello guys,

I fixed this issue, I had the exactly same problem, game just crash without errors or give me this exceptions, this problem is related windows 10 + directx 11 leak memory, the easy way to "fix" is play the game in directx 9, but for me the performance is trash so I tried everything to play in directx 11. The solution who works for me is:

1° step: Go to Documents\My Games\Path of Exile and delete production_Config.ini
Open POE again and run somes maps to check if the problem is fixed, if still crash go to second step.

2° step: Go to your folder where POE is install, find both clients: PathOfExile_x64Steam.exe and PathOfExileSteam.exe. Properties, tab Compatibility, check Disable fullscreen optimizations, check Run this program as an administrator, and check Run this program in compatibility mode for: and select Windows 7, do this in both executables. This should fix the problem, test again and if still crashing do to step 3.

3° step: Remove all versions of Microsoft Visual C++ in your PC, install just the 2015 version, you can find the download link at official microsoft page, test the game again, if not work remove the 2015 version and try the 2010 or 2017 version.

Please let me know if it works for you and what step fixed your problem, I'll try help other players with the same issue.

I am glad that these help you... but not me... at least...
I did the 2nd step because the first i already did yesterday.
And i would not play with the C++ because i have no knowledge what are they for.

So i am wondering how all these things are helping you while the error messages are constantly showing a wrong path to a directory.
Many threads are existing here on PoE forum about this problem and i am very annoyed:

The second spet should work, but if it's not try install CCleaner and clean the registry with everything closed, I read that in other topic, I did this but not work for me, but can be the solution for you.

The C++ is packges of dll's basically, I had a lot of versions because in general whem you install a program these packges install together, maybe POE is using a old packge or conflicting betwenn versions, that's why I remove all versions and install only the 2015, if you are using more updates programs like new office or photoshop it's better u install 2017 version.

When u use Directx 9 the problems stop? Your windows 10 is updated?

Everything I did to fix this issue:

First of all this problem is related only with directx 11 + windows 10, this is not a fixed if you have crashs or erros with directx 9 too, so... you probably updated your windows, updated your drivers and check PoE integrity of files, but nothing works, so follow this steps until fix.

Important: Always do the spteps with PoE closed. It's important restart the PC when I said to do, the problem is memory leak so the best way to clean the memory is restarting your PC.

1° step: Go to Documents\My Games\Path of Exile and delete production_Config.ini.
Open PoE and run somes maps to check if the problem is fixed, if it's not go to next step.

2° step: Go to Nvidia Control Panel (right click in desktop screen), in 3D settings click at Set PhysX Configuration, in Select a PhysX processor select your GPU (Graphics Processing Unit, ex: GTX 960, GTX 1050...). Restart your PC, open PoE again and run somes maps to check if the problem is fixed, if it's not go to next step.

3° step: Go to your folder where POE is install, find both clients: PathOfExile_x64Steam.exe and PathOfExileSteam.exe. Properties, tab Compatibility, check Disable fullscreen optimizations, check Run this program as an administrator, and check Run this program in compatibility mode for: and select Windows 7, do this in both executables. Restart your PC, open PoE again and run somes maps to check if the problem is fixed, if it's not go to next step.

4° step: Install the CCleaner, open the program and close all others programs, chrome (browser) include, and clean the Registry, u don't need save the backup, just fix all issues. Restart your PC, open PoE again and run somes maps to check if the problem is fixed, if it's not go to next step.

5° step: Remove all versions of Microsoft Visual C++ in your PC, you can uninstall these through CCleaner, if you have recent program's like new version of photoshop or any other program, you should install the 2017 version, otherwise install just the 2015 version, you can find the download link at official microsoft page for both (2015 and 2017 versions). Before restart your PC, clean the registry with CCleaner again, restart your PC open PoE again and run somes maps to check if the problem is fixed.

That's all I did to fix this problem and now I can play with Directx 11 without any crashs. I hope this solve your problem too and let me know what step solved for you.

I had the same issue; disabling multithreading gave me by chance (and after many crashes) a useful error message. Googling it directed me to TDR - which is actually a rather old issue, I am wondering why this one appears again. Anyway, disable TDR in the Windows registry solved all my problems - no more crashes at all.
To disable it, find the TdrLevel Key in the registry and set it to 0.

TdrLevel – Specifies the initial level of recovery. The default is to recover on timeout, which is represented by value 3.
KeyPath : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers
KeyValue : TdrLevel
ValueType : REG_DWORD
ValueData : 0 – Detection disabled OR 3 – Recover on timeout

And enjoy the game!
