Lets Talk About Huck's Equipment for a Moment......

...So I spent 2ex buying an iLevel 80+ Trarthan Flash Powder. I figure I'll roll +1 to Job levels and +1 to Demolition levels so Huck can wear the best gear.

I dump a really large number of Alteration/Chaos/Regals, and figure out that the weighting on the + to Job skills is... rather insane... especially given how shallow the Heist mod-pool is. After about 9ex in currency, I settle on +1 to Demolition. I never once saw the "+1 to Level of all Jobs for Heists" roll.

So I go out and buy iLevel 80+ Hooded Cloak, Fine Sharpening Stone and Enameled Broach, since Huck's Demolition level is now 4...

...I spend a few ex rolling them...

...aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand Huck can't wear them.

Expensive lesson.

Can we perhaps change this? Poor Huck gets the shaft, running around in Tattered cloaks and average sharpening stones... while all his pals get nifty magical cloaks and elaborate broaches. No wonder he stabbed somebody. Was probably Niles, making fun of poor Huck for only being able to wear Tier 3 eqipment!

Ouch. Yeah, that's inconsistent with how player gear works. gear gives you +30 strength? Sure, now you can wear this Astral Plate! Heist gear gives you +1 Demolition? Sorry, your boy Huck is out of Luck.

He's a nice team addition in grand Heists. DPS boost to counter penalties, and level 15 Pride, Anger, Determination or Purity of Fire to counter other map mods. You swap out the weapons to nullify the various alert penalties.

I used Huck since Heist. That means, before they gave him the +x% exp gained - and I've used Heist to level up since the league started - For me it is like Delve, but easier to access, somewhat more rewarding and still with the same "you must not die else it is all in vain" incentive. Because, in the very end, in order to level up you have to simply not die.

I still use Huck nowadays also for another reasons: Level 5 guys take money to do what Huck does for way cheaper. Saves markers on the long run.

And this way, WAY before I even came aware of the whole "who the eff uses huck" trope. I honestly felt my way... natural.

As for the OP:

I won't boost Huck's maximum level, since he is a soldier - this means he must be a jack of all trades, but not a master of them all. I'd rather change the item's decription, maybe in Advanced, in order to clarify the Job Level requirement must be the Heist Member's Base value

Nope, it's a fine level 84 powder. Welcome to random number's in PoE. "On average" is a term that you frequently come to fully understand the weight of when trying to craft gear. In over 3k Alteration spams, 1k chaos and 3ex spams, I didn't see a single +1 to all job skills, and Only a pair of +1 to Demolition.

It would be nice if he could use the best cloaks and amulet though. And as a soldier, you'd think he would be the most familiar of all of them with a whetstone/weapon? From a lore perspective anyways.

I like changing the item description - It would have been nice to know beforehand that you can't up his job level for gear requirements, since that's a break from how the rest of the game works. Would have saved me a fair bit of currency and time tracking down all the high iLevel mid-tier gear.

I just throw couple chaos level 5, 83 ilvl powder. I got it. Maybe It is a level of powder thing.
