POE SERVER IN INDIA

Hi GGG, a great fan of your awesome game. It's been 8 years since the launch of POE and I have seen its gradual improvements over the years. This game has turned out to be the best ARPG in the market currently. However, there has always been this issue that has been completely disregarded by the devs or whoever is the decision make and that is a dedicated server in India.

This is one of the things that has always baffled me as to why does POE never considers having a server here in India. There are a lot of people in India who love playing POE. I personally have supported the devs but purchasing supporter packs and MTX whenever possible is my own little way of contributing to the team.

I work online as a data scientist and I have an extremely robust and high-speed internet connection where I download and upload GB's of data daily (I don't have any background process when playing POE), however over the past year, the latency issues have killed this fun for me.

Even more surprising is when newer games like Valorant have servers in India (Mumbai) while POE still after 8 years of release doesn't consider putting up a server here in spite of multiple discussions and outcries from the community. I do realize that setting up a server is easier said than done and there are monetary constraints as well, however when a decision makes your game unplayable to your community, I do think it readable to expect a fix. The server closest to India and which is barely playable in Singapore has an average latency of 143 which spikes above 240 in high-density areas.

The other servers have an average ping of over 300 and it's completely pointless to try to connect to those to play.

I never comment on threads or participate in any discussion but this is a discussion that has been long due. I m not certain what GGG considers the players in India (which by their lack of action against the server issues has shown what value the players in India hold to the company).

So like many of my friends, I think it's about time to quit this game altogether . I have no intention of playing a game that shows no concern for a major issue that renders a section of their player base unplayable.

POE is where it is today cause of the support of the players as well as the work of the devs. However, disregarding an entire player base is not a very healthy decision.

I have no idea whether my message will be read by any devs but an earnest request. Kindly consider setting up a server in India to support the player base here.

With due respect
Thank you

They kept asking for a South African connection and they got it... or something that they're working on getting. So keep up the pressure and you might be heard. I'd try writing an actual letter though.
GGG rely on server hosts to partner up with. Picking reliable/stable(within reason)/cheap/trustworthy partners that can get the processes done on time can be challenging.

You compare GGG to Riot games that basically has the money to setup own departments around the world if needed where no partner can be found (probably hoping to use those spots for esports venues in the future). Yes both companies has the same main owner but they operate seperately under own budgets.

Also Valorant requires waaaay less localized database storage and internet traffic being a rather simple shooter so I am not sure Riot would be able to hook GGG up at any capacity there. Then again they might host other Riot games from that location? If so.. they are still kind of competitors within gaming making it weird to cooperate on server capacity. Who knows if Riot ever will make an ARPG? :P
more important than finding a hosting service that just runs servers in india is finding a company there that has a stable backbone to provide reliable connections to america where the data centers are.

you don't want permanent "gameserver has lost contact to the realm" setbacks.

Seems like it would be a no-brainer as India is the second most populous country in the world and one of the most connected.

I have friends from India who play poe and they are absolutely out of luck if Singapore goes down. What's next? 120+ ms Tokyo? 200+ ms Aus? 300+ ms MOSCOW lol

Good luck, I can see this actually happening. Maybe get an idea how many Indian players there are on average, and bring it up to them formally.
