Seeking thoughts on Lightning Strike Champion

Good afternoon. I am thinking of running a LS Champion this league. I ran James Humphrey's version several years past and really enjoyed it (and I did manage to get pretty good gear at that time, but not sure I can replicate that feat again). Not sure I will run more than one character this league. I know this build used to shine in the past, but not sure of the viability now after all these years and changes.

He recommended leveling as a Champion Toxic Rain Ballista build and transitioning at 81 to LS. I also see that Maxroll has an end-game variant with Crystallized Omniscience and other expensive items that will cost over 100 divines. I rarely get to that stage in any league, and my goal is only to do T16 maps comfortably, maybe kill some of the lower tier bosses and get my first few voidstones on my own, and do some delve (maybe to the 400s) and heist.

Is this a viable approach on a lower budget? And how comfortable is TR on a Champion (most guides show Pathfinder for this spell)? So to clarify, I am seeking input on the leveling experience as a TR ballista Champion and on Champion LS with less than optimal gear at the higher levels. The video I posted above has barely any comments, which scares me. I don't want to have a bad league experience. I have played several leagues already and generally do OK, but not the highest end content. Looking for advice. Thanks in advance.
