Does anyone know who the original Path of Exile writers were?

I've been playing since Nemesis league, roughly. I fell in love with the lore of the game from Acts 1-3, but my understanding is that the original writing team was replaced due to delays, and someone else wrote Acts 4+. I feel like the new team completely bungled the great themes and worldbuilding done by the original team.

Does anyone know who the original team of writers were? I'd love to follow up with them and see what else they may have worked on.

A lot of act 1-3 and pretty much everything after act 4 feels like high schooler edgelord fanfic.

I know KittenCatNoodle has gone beyond the call of duty to piece together a coherent lore and history for events in the game, but after reading all this fine analysis and meticulous research, you go back in to the game to be bashed over the head with the subtlety of "Maligaro made a map to hide in out of his own guts; he's literally stuck up his own ass" and "Where's Valdo?" and the common Australian caveat about "f*ckin the spoidas".

Honestly it's pretty laughable, how plotless and one-sided a lot of the themes are in especially later Acts. I'm with Tangmazu, let's make fun of all the melodrama and edgelord fantasy wherever it is to be found. "STILL SANE?"

AFAIK, most of the original stuff was written by Brian Weissman and Edwin McRae. I'm not sure why they left, I've heard conflicting rumours over the years. There's a bit of history on the early lore here: https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/dn01ww/lore_compilation_update_for_38_illustrated_edition/

I agree that the early stuff (Acts 1-3) is way better than what came after (probably due to the change in writers) and is still some of the best lore in the game. I have to say though, I think the quality of the lore has been improving recently. I personally like the lore from Expedition, Trial of the Ancestors, and Affliction. I believe Matt Dymerski is the new writer who's been doing a lot of this stuff, and it seems like he's doing a good job so far. If nothing else, the new lore is certainly less cringey.

From what I understand, Brian wanted GGG to be an above-board for-profit company, however Chris and Woodful saw it as a sandbox project. They (GGG) have exclusively hired guys that contribute to the sandbox effort, so this theory to me makes the most sense.

Erik seems to have been blasé about either sides' needs, but at this point it's moot.
