Unintended behavior of resonators?

Shift-clicking filled 1-socket resonators can consume 1-socket resonators filled with a different fossil, in a different stash tab.

For example: I prepared 20 1-socket resonators filled with Perfect fossils, trying to upgrade quality on my item. I overused 1 by accident, and instead of changing quality, the item was split. Turned out, I had one 1-socket resonator filled with a Fractured fossil in a different (normal) tab, which was consumed to split the item.

I believe this might also apply to 2,3 or 4-socket resonators, regardless of what fossils are socketed in those, and what stash tabs they are in.
