Need help with content.ggpk

I uninstall my POE in Steam and download PC client. After installing it, there is a problem. It says "Unable to get write access to file "Content.ggpk". You might have another copy of the game already running or the game maybe n a read only directory. Please help me fix this problem GMs :(

I have to resurrect this thread again.
I just applied the recent update and had the same error. I tried some sneaky renaming of the ggpk file but alas - nothing https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1590097 Official GGG fix from 2016 is delete the ggpk file and download it again. Which is a bummer because of it's current size. Bit of a bottleneck to have all game data in one file only. I don't know if doing more sneaky reinstalling on different drives or in different folders could help you avoid the download - but that would only be worth it if you can't find an unmetered connection any time soon. You can also always keep a copy of a working ggpk file for situations like this. Then you only have to download the updates. |
