Cyclone no longer physical. What is it now, an emotional skill? Paranormal? A climate skill?
We all know GGG hates cyclone, but why do they hate it so much? Did a cyclone run over their dog, or break the office coffee machine?

It's not a physical skill anymore, because it does no longer add/have flat physical damage. I don't really see how this matters in the grand scheme of things, as they changed/buffed Infused Channeling too.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.

" See I wondered the same and said it on another post regarding certain weapons like Well the non legacy one anyways, how's it supposed to scale off Cyclone? I really don't believe they thought this out well, this nerf / change on all the gems was just another blanket one all around, just like when they over nerfed the support gems a few years ago. None of this shit they did makes sense, when you really look at it and even less so when you ask why? Considering none was overpowered, this seemed like another senseless nerf with no purpose. Boosting the dmg effectiveness WOULD have been a excellent move for all gems, problem is now without the flat dmg of them it's basically gutted out. Elemental hit didnt have physical flat dmg so to gut that one out, they changed it to be melee only. Yet again another dumb move cause that's why they made Wild Strike. So what's the point in having 2x melee elemental gems that do the exact same thing? This seems rushed and not well thought out. What SHOULD have happened was for GGG to make Cyclone buffed but changed the FIg version into a Cyclone version with flat elemental dmg like Elemental Hit. That way you can have the whirlwind attack but with elemental damage that can scale, plus if you choose to use a physical weapon the regular Cyclone is the gem of choice. Again +1 step forward, -4 steps backwards, it's so damn hard to praise them for such a great game when they keep making decisions like this that cause problems instead of solving them. Even more so is when they created new problems that end up requiring solutions I rarely post, but when I do it's important. " Is there a reason it would scale worse? Why wouldn't the increased damage scaling off the weapon itself not account for the loss of the flat damage on the skill? Looking at Voidforge/Cyclone on the wiki and the numbers in the patch notes, the new level 20 Cyclone should directly compete with an old level 26 Cyclone? (Base Weapon Damage * Quality * (New damage effectiveness - old damage effectiveness)) 62 * 1.2 * (1.11 - 0.64) = ~35 129 * 1.2 * (1.11 - 0.64) = ~73 Level 26 Cyclone: 43 to 64 added physical damage Of course, this is without including that other sources of added physical damage would also be more effective. | |
" What do you actually mean here? I can't understand. It scales just the same way it did in every other league? Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.

" Removing the flat added physical damage does hurt some builds that had low base dmg, such as Facebreaker, Pillar of the Caged God or Voidforge. Whether the damage effectiveness will do more or less than counterweight this is up to PoB theorycrafters though ! As stated above, Voidforge users should be fine with just new quality and damage effectiveness. Last edited by PoitelMarto on Jul 20, 2024, 11:54:38 PM
