Verisium auto smelting itself with no one assigned

I had 7 smiths making everything BUT verisium, intentionally unassigned everyone off of verisium as I needed the ore for town upgrades. Wondering why I had so much less than I remember so, I had a look, the verisium is smelting itself and will be fully gone in 40 minutes with no smiths working on it. I can't understand why this would be intentional so assume its a bug as we need the ore to upgrade the town. Only workaround I have found has been to completely unassign all smiths from ALL ores types as even re-assigning them causes verisium to be smelted without anyone assigned to this ore type. Hopefully this can be fixed? Love the new league!

Update: This seems to be an issue where if you have smelters assigned to ANY ore that you have no ore available for, they begin smelting the highest tier ore available. Verisium ore is extremely rare and used to upgrade many town assets so this is really bad for progressing your town. Sitting on 1200 bars I cant use and 100 ore by the time I noticed this.
