dual wield impale mechanic
dual strike of ambidexterity attacks with both weapons doing the dmg of both in 1 strike.
if my main hand has 100% impale chance and my off hand has 80% impale chance, do i have 100% impale chance or do i have to get 20% additional impale chance either on the off hand or on other gear do have 100% effective impale chance? i read the impale section of poe wiki. as far as i understand it impale is a debuff applied at every single hit. that means since dual strike counts both weapons hits as 1 simultaenous hit i could hypothetically have 100% impale chance on 1 weapon and 0% chance on the other weapon and it would still apply an impale debuff with 100% chance per hit. is my assumption correct that the impale chance of the 2nd weapon doesnt matter at all? on the other hand path of building increases my dps if i add 20% impale chance on the off hand, but maybe it doesnt calculate it correctly?! edit to the pob issue: i manually removed all my impale chance, put 100% impale chance on the main hand and checked the dps. afterwards i manually added 100% impale chance on the off hand and the dps didnt change, so i guess my first assumption that 1 weapon with 100% impale chance is correct?! - but again: this is just pob which can be flawed Last edited by Freya98 on Aug 6, 2024, 8:49:55 AM Last bumped on Aug 7, 2024, 11:45:57 AM

If any of weapons impales, the combined hit impales too, so if you care about just the fact of impailing, impale chance of the second weapon doesn't matter. But usually you care about impale damage, and in this case your impale will store damage only from the first weapon "hit", because your second weapon doesn't impale.
Likely not the best explanation, simply put, you want both weapons to impale, so it will store damage from both "hits". Last edited by MonaHuna on Aug 7, 2024, 6:02:03 AM
