awakener's orb question

hey folks,

wondering if someone could shed some light on how my latest awakener's orb attempt went wrong. i tried to combine these two isolated influence mods:

i'm not sure why the shaper mana res mod didn't make it onto the finished product. i've read that some mods of the same group aren't allowed to be combined, but if that were the case, shouldn't it have prevented me from using the orb?
