Frost blades + deadeye richochet seems bugged
When hitting single target it produces blades that fly out hit wall chain off wall chain back to single target but dont collide with it and dont do damage to it.
Maybe I know wrong but I was under impression that if no projectiles from skill have yet collided with the same target this shouldnt occur and chain of wall should hit and do damage? When fallacious arguments aren't convincing comes the biased moderation. Last bumped on Oct 28, 2024, 10:05:09 AM

Frost Blade projectiles can't hit the target stricken by the melee part. Returning projectiles bypasses this since they have a separate list of hit targets.

Where is this even described? How is one supposed to know this will be the case?
If its not a bug then its at the very least counterintuitive. Also, if this intended then no reason to play FB over LS as that one can actually hit with both melee and projectile component. When fallacious arguments aren't convincing comes the biased moderation.

"By learning the game I guess, PoE has tons of undescribed interactions. "The trick allowing you to hit twice with LS is also not described. But yes, that's why it's so popular. | |
I know the trick but its programming that allows the projectiles to hit initial target at all.
What is the difference between LS and FB in this respect? None. Just one arbitrarily can and other cant. And given this, deaeye ricochet with makes LS chain of wall and hit initial target. Thats just inconsistent coding. Should be either both can or both cant with adjustments to damage multiplier. As it stands now I have a pure cold damage FB pob and if I plug in LS the dps is just 2x due to how LS isn't neutered in regards to its projectile mechanics. Thats just nonsensical. Hello, sorry for the late answer.
I understand that Path of Exile is a very complex game, but you cannot blame the code behind it because of your poor understanding of it. You surely didn't understand why LS is able to effectively hit twice. - First, those are two different skills, so they have two different behavior : not just one is cold damage based and the other is lightning damage based. - The behavior of Frost Blades is stated clearly discribed in its description : you release the projectiles (behind the target) ONLY when you hit an enemy. Which is not the case for LS. - LS cannot "naturally" hit twice its target. The behavior that allows that is the stat "Strike Skills target X additional nearby Enemies" which you can find on gems like Ancestrall Call Support for exemple : You hit (your character) with the projectile and your "ancestral copy" hit with the melee part of the skill. In fact, this very niche case can be found on Smite too in form of AoE instead of projectiles. This interaction is clearly intended and what's make some skills unique compared to others. You might dislike that LS does more single target damage than FB, but you gotta look at other aspect of skills, not only single target damage. Frost Blades creates up to 10 projectiles at 20% quality with a faster projectile speed than LS AND those projectiles are autotargeted to enemies behind it. Which is why Frost Blades has always been great at what it does best : clearing. If you take a more critical approach and clearly look at a skill for what purpose it has been designed, everything start to make a little bit of sense ;) One thing I will not deny is that LS is clearly good at single target while being able to clear decently (with some investment, such as pierce). Which is why it is so popular. |
