Wiki is saying that the -5 doesn't apply to the normal skill if its part of the vaal get, but the +5 does. Which is my understanding, because vaal gems only have one level umber on them, not a seperate level for vaal/non-vaal. So it shouldn't be cancelling. I think the damage difference you are noticing is likely just from 6 link to 4 link. Take 2 links out of your 6 link and see if you are getting more damage on glove. Or POB it. I think it is generally not used for damage. Also, not all uniques are end game viable. Some are, some are good for leveling, so are good for certain niche purposes. Also, there's often power creep in game where new content and items are being added. It does look like these glove do get some use. I've used them before levelling in SSF, they are pretty useful. Perhaps not for exactly what you are trying to do with them, as main damage dealer. I think if you wanted to make a build where they were used as main damage, you would need to get some benefit from not needing damage sockets in chest or weapon. " Big thanks - very good reasoning I'm not ruling out that this game is a very unwieldy, clumsy game. It's impossible to balance this game in a timely manner. For example, there was an object with a working parameter with which these gloves worked and then the working parameter in this object was removed and there wasn't enough attention to keep the balance. They did a pretty big update on unique items fairly recently that made a lot of the unusable ones a bit more relevant. Not all items can be be build enabling though, they need a bit of mix of power level and rarity.
I see you have been pretty keen on making a vaal skill build. Maybe there is room there for GGG to add an item that is a bit more powerful for certain vaal builds. Did you look at using the Soul catcher/ripper flask at all? I haven't used them, but maybe that's one that can be added in to something you're trying to make. |
