Help with T17 maps

This is my first real league where I've invested a lot of time into and gotten stuck on t17 maps. I'm currently lvl 90 and just cant do any damage to the bosses. Any tips and help would be much appreciated.

Your profile is set to private so no one can see your build.

The trick is, never assume you ever have enough.
Reviewing your build and comparing it against poeninja is a start, but there are so many tricks and not many ways to clear without a decent build that requires serious currency.
That's how the game is designed.

Keep pushing, keep learning, whatever you have isn't enough so you need to be inspired how to push further.

Hence, set your profile/characters to public and people on the forums will offer help.... unfortunately it comes at the price that people will offer advice that hinders.

Post your POB or make profile public

Sorry didnt know about the privacy setting, updated it so it should show my current build (im using the ice nova build).

I'm somewhat familiar with poeninja but its somewhat confusing, so just another thing I have to learn but mainly been using the wiki to gather info on items and all sorts of things.
I am not particularly familiar with your build but it looks like your gear can be improved a great deal. Quality gems, enchants, eldritch implicits etc etc. At this point I would just focus on upgrades and leveling up in t16s while farming them effectively. its a bit early to expect to run t17s
Playing ice nova.

So you are approaching this in a very glass way I will give you some broad things I see currently.

You dont have cap spell suppress (100%) which would greatly improve your survival.

Phys damage taken as X element as implicits for both your helmet and armour would help get your physical damage hit up as well.

You arent scaling really anything, no armour/eva no ES ... chaos res is not cap...

And you are level 90 with sub 4k health.

I would suggest looking to the racers in HCSSF Gaunt that are doing icenova of Frostbolts and taking inspiration from them.

Here is something that might help you out

https://poe.ninja/builds/eventhcssf?class=Hierophant

And take a look at what they are doing.

Hope this helps!

This definitely helps a lot, thank you

Not saying you can't do T17's. If you enjoy the challenge, have at it. But with your current gear, it would be more efficient to stay farming T16s while you work on some upgrades.

Are you using Path of Building? If not, download it and watch a YT video on using it. This will help tremendously with finding gear upgrades and optimizing skill points.

Until then, here's a quick rundown of your build. To classify it more specifically, you are running the non-crit, self cast, ice nova. These are both important details.

1. You seem to have no life leech source. This is incredibly important for you. The easiest source is to eldritch implicit your gloves. you do this by getting Eater of Worlds currency, and just spamming them on the gloves until they roll % lighting damage leeched as life. The lowest tier of these currency are very cheap and sufficient for now, you should expect to use about 75 to get the mod. Later you can swap to a cluster jewel for the leech if desired.

2. As the non-crit version of the build, your damage scaling comes from mana, spell/lightning damage, cast speed. You are missing large amounts of the first 2 of these from your wands, which is where you can get the single largest amount of either of them. Prioritize getting at least tier 2 mana and spell damage on both wands, with a secondary focus on cast speed/lighting damage. (you can also runecraft cast speed or spell damage onto the wands for cheap)

3. After the wands, all of your gear could use a reassessment of priorities. You want to focus on:
-Make sure resistance is capped
-Resist aside, your priorities are Life > Mana > Intelligence
You seem to be prioritizing flat energy shield, but with this class it is not needed or optimal. We scale ES from our Mana pool through the Sanctuary of Thought Ascendancy. More mana = more defense and more damage.

3. Almost all of your skill/support gems are missing quality. This is fairly minor in the grand scheme of things, but a very cheap upgrade (less than 15c per gem)

4. Change your caster mastery to +1 intensity. This is a big dps boost on its own.

5. Drop your diamond flask and don't value crit on your gear. You are currently using the Elemental Overload notable. This makes your crit hits do no extra damage. Yes you have to crit to get the elemental damage buff, but only once every 8 seconds, which you will easily do with base crit chance due to our high cast rate.

6. Start shopping for some basic jewels. You have skipped all of your jewel socket spots in your passive skill tree. A decent jewel can easily be better than most other single small skill point nodes. Look for ones with a combo of the following:

-% mana increase
-% lightning damage
-% life increase

They should have 4 affixes, so anything else can be a bonus. One of your jewels should have the corrupt implicit that gives corrupted blood immunity. This is very expensive on a good jewel, but very cheap on a sub-optimal, so when looking for it, settle for 2 out of 4 good affixs at first.

You should also start looking at unique jewels. This build commonly uses:

Watcher's Eye: These give % mana/ % life / % ES, but more importantly provide giant bonuses to 2 or 3 random auras. Find one for Wrath. They are cheap for a single bonus effect, more expensive for a double wrath, and triple wrath can be well out of most of our grasp. You can also look to get a wrath/clarity and run clarity as a second aura. Clarity isnt the most useful, but the watcher eye mod that gives you 10% more damage taken from mana is very good.

Unnatural Instinct: This gives an insane amount of value when placed correctly in your tree.

Stormshroud: This is the main way that this build gains ailment immunity

Light of Meaning: Use in conjunction with Unnatural Instinct to give large mana or lighting damage boost. Can also be used to cap chaos resistance.

OK so just saved this reply as a screenshot to support my experience, and I have a few things I want to know more or touch on

1.) I'm using the pob that zizartan linked in his YT video and I assumed I was progressing fine with the build guide and it seems like it doesn't show the mechanics and tricks that an unexperienced player like me would know of.

2.) What should I switch my diamond flask for?

3.) I am EXTREMELY poor, 76 chaos to my name, I do use Awakened poe trade, and I have seen a few YT videos on how to make currency as a beginner but it seems like "beginner" means a completely different thing to someone who has played for some time. and running T16 maps even with 8 mods, I get about 1 chaos orb every 10 maps I run and I've gotten 2 divine orbs through the campaign that helped get my build this far.

4.) since currency is an issue for me do I keep running maps until I can get some lucky drops that will help progress my gear, or build up currency and do the crafting myself?

Again sorry this is my first league, so sorry for sounding like a super noob
