Reflected elemental damage prevention does't work!

Hello,

I haves some serious issues with preventing elemental damage. I use glacial hammer of shattering so I deal elemental damage only.
Reflected damage was my nemesis for the long time, especially because I deal area damage. For that specific purpose I forged double influenced armour that grants me 100% reflected damage reduction and I've burned a lot of divine in a process.
Meanwhile it turns out that it sometimes fail to work when I enter a map with "monsters reflect X% elemental damage". It occurs when some monsters summon other monsters form additional game content (ie. harbringers or Einhar beasts). It happens at random and it is always an instadeath. I've died like 10-15 times already. I've re-entered the map and approached the monsters that killed me for the same effect.
I've reported a bug three times alredy for no effect.
Someone please help!

Doesnt sound like a bug because it usually works but occassionally it doesnt.

It more likely that you affected by some sort of increased dmg taken debuff such as shock when it happens.

Like, if you were shocked for 50% increased dmg taken, then you are taking 150% reflected dmg instead of the usual 100%. Now your chestpiece is going to reduce that exactly by 100% but that still means you will be taking the remaining 50% and thats what kills you.

100% reduced reflect dmg does not mean "all" the reflected dmg. Its literally 100% and if thats not enough, well you´ll bite the dust.

If you character isnt shock immune or generally immune to ele ailments this is the most likely explanation for your issue.
Yeah, as an experiment I ran a map with reflected damage and that had to be it...
If you are using Bonechill Support or something similar, having ailments reflected to you from something like Eater of Worlds altars or certain rares that reflect ailments, you will die because the increased Damage Taken is also reflected back. This is currently bugged behavior with Reflect and I already reported it a while back. No amount of reduced Reflected Damage Taken will counteract this because they are different calculations. I also tested this.

If PoE 2 has no CWDT builds, I will quit for good.
It seams to me like a big troll from GGG since it makes you feel safely secure while you are not. Running through all the trouble to get desired modifier on a influenced gear should be more rewarding. At least GGG should have the decency to make the modifier like "you are immune to elemental reflected damage" or something similar in my opinion. One thing that learned form PoE is to consider each word on a modifier carefully to the point of paranoia. And even that is sometimes not enough cause i.e. Herald of Ice says you don't take reflected damage but it doesn't say that it only applied to damage dealt by Herald itself. As a side note - GGG if you are reading this it would make HoI actually a usable skill.
Nevertheless I'm baffled about the source of my deaths. I'm immune to: Freeze (not chill), Ignite, Shock, Poison, Bad Blood, Bleeding, Impale and Stun. Other elemental ailments also doesn't seam like a likely culprit of increased damage. Map modifiers can be ruled out to because every monster would kill me. Curses? Maybe Snipers Mark? IDK. It seams to me like I die from the monsters form extra game content every single time. Maybe they have some content specific modifiers? The other day I was killed by a Totem on Delve. It shoot like a beam and PUFFF! I was squashed like a fly. I use Abyssus since I run high crit build but it increases just the physical damage taken.
For the time being I stacked the armour effect with soul of Yuguul and we will see how it will go.

Done
Well nothing immediately jumps out gear wise actually. But I would say the first post likely has the correct answer especially if it only happens against certain monsters.

For example the Pale Seraphim has a "take increased lightning damage" debuff which would kill you with reflect if you were lighting based.

If it happens again I would try to record it and hover your debuffs when you died. Something akin to covered in frost could be the culprit.
Personally, I roll over reflect mods on maps.

The "easy" solution would be a woke ele dmg with atks gem.
Any skill linked to that "cannot" reflect dmg.

So if you can work that one into your setup, you´d solve your problem and open up your chest slot as well. Which also allows you to utilize a non-influenced chest and roll eldritch implicits, which may or may not make up for any losses the changed gem setup could cause.

Didnt check your build, so I dont know if thats a solid approach - thats on you.
But Id look into that for sure, if I was you.
