Way WAY too punishing
So my shipment got comadeared by pirates today. I go to do the fight and realized I was on the wrong character, hadnt entered the portal yet. Switched characters and it was gone!
So I lost 6 lvl 10/9 shippers a huge amount of verisum all because I wanted to use a different character to do the fight. It has taken me a MONTH to get those shippers and probably 2-3 weeks worth of verisum. That is way to punishing of a mechanic. And before you all spout off git gud or just farm more gold Time is a limited resource and this was seriously way too big of a F You about the value of my time. nah its definitely a case of they havent really thought about this when they made it
When fallacious arguments aren't convincing comes the biased moderation.

It's just another "feature" that wouldn't make it live after sufficient public player feedback in an actual PTR prior to patch launch. Another good example here is the giant boss health bars that still cover up your buff/aura bar.
This is another thing that "HURR DURR D4 BAD LOLZ" wins over Path of Currency Simulator. |

A big part of the town hasn't really been thought through at all, they most likely rushed to get this league finished so they can focus on PoE 2.
Like for example, why does paying the 50k ransom to the pirate boss make you lose the entire shipment and all the materials you sent on it? I clicked that button one day thinking my shipment would just continue on, because logically I bribed the pirate off so he could leave it alone right? Nope. 50,000 crimson iron bars wasted. That's like 50 or so map encounters of that ore type. The whole mechanic of getting pirate bosses randomly is stupid, they should have made some kind of progression system/invitations for them to let the players CHOOSE when to fight these bosses. Not randomly get it on a shipment when you don't want it lol Or atlas runners getting attacked by the pirate boss Sasan on the first map in the queue when you go to sleep, very funny game design. Or they just die while you're offline. Why do atlas runners have a 1% chance of dying even in a white t1 map with a full team of rank 10s? That's also just ridiculous, full rank 10s should reduce the risk of death to 0%... you know, just like how a full team of rank 10 shippers makes it so you can send the max limit of 50 mil value with 0% risk? The whole system just has inconsistencies and contradicts itself at every turn. Rerolling for workers and wasting millions of gold is extremely cringe too. It is way too punishing, and way too time-consuming when you can easily lose a whole team of rank 10 shippers/atlas runners and get hours of your time deleted. Hopefully next league is just a fun "kill monsters get loot" kind of league, I'm kinda sick of all these complex systems that they can't seem to get right. |

Yeah the strange way this league was balanced is going to make it poorly remembered.
At least with other league boss mechanics you can use multiple portals, usually. It reminds me of the terrible wildwood boss, the worst thing was learning it and dying to random one shots with a single portal. At least he wrecked a single map instead of ruining potentially a whole week of farming mats or rolling for workers. Last edited by roundishcap#0649 on Oct 23, 2024, 12:02:06 PM

If you can clear a map faster than killing those pirate hit point sponges than
its never worth it to fight them ... like so much else in the game now. I just stocked my ships with disposable crews and killed them ... If you are not going for max shipments .. just let em die every time .. you can run 2 maps and buy a new crew in the time it takes fighting the friggin dude. You cant pay me enough to listen to the soothing sound of cyclone going ..thub thub thub thub for 8 minutes Last edited by Jitter912#4278 on Oct 23, 2024, 6:06:26 PM

"None of that is true and good advice. Well, maybe if you run a build below 1m DPS but even then, you are likely better off farming lower tier yellow maps and revisit investing into your crew / ransom fights when you're comfortable in red tier maps. |
|
I don't know what you guys are pulling out of red maps, but I don't get much more than 8k gold per map. So killing the pirate will make 5-10 maps worth of gold, will give you runes and the fight is almost impossible to fail as he doesn't do oneshot mechanics. Despite him being a damage sponge, you should always go kill him.

"These are players that take 800k DPS builds without defense into T16 maps (sometimes T17 even) and then complain that the game is too hard. I wish I was joking. |
