Collecting Ore in Settlers

Is there some fancy trick to collecting massive amounts of ore for refining other than just running many many maps? I cannot see how one can accumulate 10 or 20 thousand bars given the low number of deposits (1-2) per map.

Just lots of maps. (yes, there is a 2 ore node spawn limit per map i believe)
A few things worth nothing tho, which you may already know. 1. The shipping quota number listed is for amount of ore needed. Bars count for 5 ore each, so a 100k iron quota is only 20k iron bars. 2. Quotas don't seem very impactful overall, especially when doing large value shipments. It very much seems to be better to focus on saving your crops for 50m value or ~1m value, crop only shipments. You should obviously fulfill any ore quota too on the port you are using for those, but the unused ports quotas can be ignored. “Freedom is what we do with what is done to us.”
