where are the rules about trading i cant find any.

some context for the title.

so i messaged someone about trading some chaos for fusing. i edited the message because i didn't know enough fusing. (i was off by 5). i was then told that I'm scamming and was being reported.

so what exactly is the rule on this. i haven't been able to find and set rules on this anywhere. I'm no scammer just a player returning to a game he loved. thanks in advance and fully someone can point me in the right direction.

Don't edit the message.
Instead send another after it asking if this amount is ok

well i asked the person if that was ok he told he no it was taking advantage of the market. so im just trying to find where in the rules it tells the its wrong. he made it very clear there was a rule about it but i cant find it.
Editing the original message is what the scam attempt is and scamming is against the rules. It has been stated by GGG that they do investigate and ban people for it. Im sure a quick google search can find it. Dont sweat it to much though because one report wont lead to any action by GGG.

In the future send the unaltered whisper and then a follow up whisper with your offer.

For context, a common scam is say you have an item listed for 40 divines and they edit the whisper to 4 divines. What they are hoping for is that in your rush to do everything you dont realize you priced the item much higher than what they whispered.

thank you for that. i did do a google search but it didnt give me a 100% answer on it. "searched path of exile trade rules". thats why i made the post. but now i understand what he was talking about. didnt realize it was considered a scam. from now i will just send a second message that would be fine to do right or is that still the same thing?

for context the original message is 1 chaos for 15 fusing. as long as i send that first. i can send a second one asking if they would take 10 instead of 15 or what if i just get the name off poe site and send my own message asking 1 for 10? or should i just not ask at all and wait until i have a few more.

And yes, just send the unedited whisper and then ask if they will accept a different offer in the second message.

There are no official rules regarding trade. What the other guy complained about was more along the lines of inofficial trade etikett rather than rules.

There are certain things that are frownd upon by the community because it invites mistakes. Most people don't pay much attention during trades so you changing the trade message might go by unnoticed resulting in an unwanted trade for the other side. It's considered bad manners.

That being said, i doubt it counts as a scam attempt seeing how there is no official rule against it and at the end of the day, even if the other guy falls for it, it's his own problem for not paying attention so you can be at ease, even if he reports you, there won't be any consequences.
