Worried about the PoE2 end game loop - atlas juicing
Firstly, GGG's Early Access is like a $50 game with a few expansions released at once, but it is free. On the one hand, after so many years, I shouldn't be shocked by the over-delivery of content, yet I am once again. And I bet it isn't the last time.
To the point. If I'm getting things right, each atlas node can be used once. With that finding a cluster of towers will produce a finite amount of juiced maps to run. After exhausting all the maps the players will need to go exploring to find another cluster, roll and set up the tablets, and run another pool of juiced maps. This leads to a gameplay loop of running juiced maps when we can instead of when we want and has a requirement to run lower-density content in between. Obviously, I'm talking about the most degenerate way of playing the game but it's the most fun one for some of us. I might be over-eager with complaining but I'd like to share my thoughts anyway. I hope I'm wrong and the atlas as it is will be enjoyable beyond the expectations. Last bumped on Nov 22, 2024, 4:38:47 AM

It's essentially Delve, generic exploration with some areas of high interest in between.
I personally really like it because it gives you things to work towards and allows for some nice dopamine peaks inbetween general mapping, It reflects my playstyle from PoE1 quite well, as it is a mix of basic mapping and diverting to specialized content/bossing every now and then. Keeps the game loop fresh and interesting |
